Well here's a couple of suggestions. Normally there is white cottony mycelium at the base of the mushrooms, this is normal. Secondly, your humidity should be at 95% atleast. You should use a humidifier, but it should be an ultrasonic one becuase they are less likely to cause contamination.

use perlite for humidification!
i am, and it easily obtains 100% humidification.

Hi,
I have a few more questions about this. The white cottony stuff seems to be growing at the base and a little on my mushrooms. Is there a way to get rid of it, and do I need to avoid eating that if I eat the mushrooms? (Do I just pick that off or what?) Any advice is welcome. Thank you.

sounds like mycelium, that is the shit that prduces the mushrooms. It is fine, leave it alone. It is psychoactive, so leave it. It may not look cool but who care this is not a beauty contest. + if your worried about not enough humidity go with perlite, just check the tecs in the grow section. FYI most cigar / humidor humidifires are made for a shoe box sized space and are designed to only raise the humidity to 70-75% which is not high enough.
