Trader Joes 2006 Vintage Ale.
    #7169846 - 07/13/07 04:05 AM (16 years, 8 months ago)

I recieved a bottle of this on my 21st birthday from my girl Laska's father.

Took me a good month to want to open it and i figure i jumped the gun a bit. Its supposed to age and get better with time.

Its a really really really dark ale. holding the glass up in the light you couldnt see through it at all.

The head is thin and light, not as creamy as i normally like, it disssipates a little too quick.. And it is a little over carbonated in my opinion.

but the taste is rather very smooth. not so much bitter, a really full bodied heavy ale.

Im not as impressed as id of hoped but its still a great beer worth trying!

all in all

7 out of 10

:yesnod:

Isn't Dragonfruit just cheramoya?

You should be able to find it around under that name...

no, dragonfruit is the fruit of a tropical cactus, cherimoya is a tree.

^ the grafting stock of this gymnocalycium is also dragonfruit...
dragonfruit - Hylocereus undatus

cherimoya - Annona cherimola

Yea its not a bad Belgian style ale for the price. Much better purchase then the overpriced and hyped Chimay that they also sell. If I wanted an expensive Belgian Ale Id go for a Rochefort Trappistes or something.
