A Survey On Abortion Calls

I get a call, it's from Charleston, SC. I don't know anyone down there. I pick it up anyway. I'm greeted with a machine explaining that it's a survey on Abortion.

For Pro-Life, hit 1 now. For Pro-Choice, hit 9 now.

"Eh, why not. " So I hit 9.

"Thank you for choosing pro-life." Says the machine right afterwards, and then proceeds to go off on some ridiculous tangent about Abortion, at which point, I hung up the phone.

I got a laugh out of it, at least.

I worked for a nonprofit phone canvassing company once. We had to call folks for some pro-choice PAC's . I hated it - they answered, you went STRAIGHT into talking about their uterus rights.

And some people DID get really pissed. "I'm eating!" "I'm busy!" "I'm a man!"

I absolutely don't mind doing phone surveys because I figure it gets my opinion out and it helps the person on the other end of the line make some money and kill some time at work. I just don't like the notion of getting a lecture because I voiced my opinion, especially an automated one from a group of evil fucks with warped opinions.

Hah, I was too busy laughing my ass off at how ridiculous it was to get pissed.

Besides, it was a machine, there wasn't anybody on the other line for me to vent at if I actually was pissed off. :P If it was a person, I probably would have fucked with them a bit, for a few extra laughs, but, alas.

Yeah, I don't appreciate being lectured to either, but, it was a machine. A machine from Charleston, SC. An anti-abortion machine from Charleston, SC.
