20 Best Current Live Bands--Rolling Stone list

What do y'all think? Dave Matthews band before Tool? That's bound to raise some eyebrows on here I bet. And Metallica at #6?! Personally I think lists like these are silly but they're always good for conversation or at least for bitching.

Pearl Jam ahead of Rage and Muse?
And as much as I like the Yeah Yeah Yeahs (and I do, I own a couple of their CDs) they're being ridiculously overrated.
Also The Decemberists should've been on that list.

these are primary studio bands. While not exclusively, there are bands out there that I feel remember that music more most of time was about the live experience, not about how well they could put together and album. This list looks more like who draws the largest crowd, not who puts on the best performance.

I don't know if I'd go that far, but I'm certainly not a big fan. #1? Come on. I admit I've never seen them live, but I simply refuse to believe that this two-piece could out-perform TOOL by 18 ranks.

I've seen both; Tool was awesome, but the White Stripes were way better live.

Pearl Jam was the greatest concert experience I have ever been to. One of the best nights of my life.
Rolling stone lists of anything are bullshit anyways

I thought Tool's show at 'roo sucked humongous monkey balls...
what's the big deal??
as for the rest of the list... haven't really seen any of them, at least not in a long time... so, I can't really judge.

I agree with all of those, but not necessarily the ordering of them. I was very glad to see them put LCD Soundsystem on there. Very glad.

The guys at rolling stone are afraid to go outside of the mainstream so they feel the perpetual need to suck the dicks of these TERRIBLE bands.
2/3's of that list isnt even REAL FUCKING MUSIC.
Doesnt bother me though. I dont read rolling stone, nor do I listen to those bands.

Would love to hear you actually expound on that 2/3 of the list, name the bands that aren't "REAL FUCKING MUSIC" and then explain what REAL FUCKING MUSIC is, exactly. Blanket statements that use the word "mainstream" tend to go in my eyes.

Oh? And what is real music?
That is a pretty mediocre list, but there are some damn fine musicians on there.
