cut stems off as close to gills as possible, place cap on white paper or tin foil for dark spores, place a small cup or jar over the cap, (it helps if you get glass wet and shake it off, so a bit of moisture is present), get them on paper a.s.a.p., get a print of every one if your a noob!!! keep stems next to caps, wait 12-24 hours, probably only 4-5 hours for cubes, paper bags, good luck, and be careful,!!!!!!!!!!

for a sporeprint ur only wanting 10-24 hours of being under a glass.
if you've ID'd the mushrooms, and want to dry them:
put them down on a sheet of newspaper / paper towels (absorbant paper of some kind) under a fan in a well ventilated room free from excessive heat or humidity. well, thats the lowtech method :P

Is the paper wet because they're slowly melting? Are they getting more and more fragile and slowly falling apart?

If so, they're Inky Caps / Coprinus

Nah sorry. Apparently certain Coprinus species are edible (not particularly tasty) but poisonous if you consume alcohol afterwards.

Look at this wiki page for more info: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Parasola

Check "Coprinellus disseminatus" to see if you recognise them. They don't go completely inky like most inky caps, although they're extremely fragile so that would fit the bill: http://www.mushroomexpert.com/coprinus_disseminatus.html

No worries

Edit: I was going to suggest Panaeolus as a possibility but i can definitely see some characteristic fraying at the edges of the cap and black appearing on the edges.

I'd still bet on some kind of inky/parasola

hmmmm, well im gonna do some more research on it. a few years back the field had 10x that supply and we got really high on them. I think i might have seen a subb in the field but i didn't have anything to seperate the species so im going back tomorrow morning, hopefully it will be drier and have a bigger yield though. and again thank you for your input.
