post pasteurized h poo smells foul?

First i would like to say i know what pasteurized h poo smells like, this smell I'm getting from this poo is different to what i expected. I was inspired by an idea of pasteurizing poo in a cool box, so id thought i would try my own tek and pasteurize in a 1.9 liter thermos container (designed to keep a big amount of liquid warm up to 12 hours or so) about a pint of poo and half a pint of coir was added to the container, 175 degree water was added to the thermos... 24 hours later the lid was removed and a retched smell emerged just like dog shit, almost made me gag.... I'm concluding 24 hours is way to long??? any opinions, cheers.

Definitely would toss it...it's probably teeming with anaerobic bacteria.
A thermos wouldn't keep 175(F) water at 175(F) for very long and - considering the substrate itself would equalize a lot of the temperature down as well - you probably had it sitting in a 98-120(F) degree water for several hours just letting it...eww, fester.
At least IMHO, YMMV...

Probably, when you added the water, it cooled off upon contact with the coir and manure below the threshold. It then cooled off further into the prime breeding temperature for bacteria.
Try mixing your substrate and adjusting to field capacity, and then load into bags or jars and pasteurize in a large kettle. Use a meat thermometer stuck into the middle of one of the jars of substrate. Maintain 140F to 160F for one hour. RR

The worst manure smelled to me (post pasteurizing) was a sewer-like smell. Not pleasant, but ok to use. I couldn't/wouldn't use anything that smelled more foul than that.

YMMV -- Your Mileage May Vary. Standard disclaimer when selling cars and roughly equates to "your results may differ" but YRMD doesn't have the same universal recognition as YMMV.
