hello all i´m making my study in edibles mushrooms of jalisco willmpost pictures of all my finds amanita caesarea more taxonomist believe that belong to a great complex where many variations of color, size appear, here in jalisco when this amanita make his host tree an oak the color is usually yellow and when the micorrizal tree is a pine the color is red orange as the classical amanita caesarea of europe, the size is sometime afected by nutriens in the soil and the host tree but sometimes i found really big ones of both, is the one i like more to eat i love amanitas i know many people take precautions and for good reasoms but amanita caesarea, amanita vaginata anothers complex with many variation also good to eat after boiling and discartin the water also amanita rubences many variation too ..this happed withmany in the amanita group and amanitopsis the one with out ring like vaginata, you wont think growing in many different location will given then many phenotypes to express every time i´m in the wood i lear something new, solo se que no se nada
seasom is beggining and was lucky to get then when they have just broke the volva.
this picture a kid selling amanita caesarea of the orange variety also people love this mushrooms

Awesome pics. They've been popping up around me lately too. And, I just found a big patch of A. muscarias that at first I thought were caesars because the warts had been washed off in the rain. However, there was no vulva, and the base has the concentric rings of veil remnants characteristic of muscaria. Definitely something to be aware of when you're collecting this species.

Yep, here I guess the taxonomy is less clear. Good info about it at mushroomexpert.com under Amanita jacksonii.

i know in usa amanita caesarea grow more im the westernd part well in some old books was register now the name is diferent and in no very coomoond also not so desire for edibles in my books said that the flavor is not as good as the european and are many other amanitas that look alike that are more desire jacksonii,Amanita banningiana,i been reading the information there xmush and well at least micologyst in mexico said that there a complex around many amanitas , but for almost 200 years here in mexico amanita caesarea or the mushrooms i´m eating have been eat for many people you even find then in the market the price is 5 dollars a pound the thing you have to look obioly that the micorrizal tree in pine or oak , if the volva is a cup , the cap striade at the margin many amanitas that are not deadly are striade at the margin ,the color of the cap from yellow to orange-red , gill yellow spores white of course but nevver seen a indian take a spore print jaja,a yellow ring sometime fall, the stem white ,, this mushrooms is use to export in dehydrataded form , very apreciated for fungofilios people , i know in many places mushroms change but in mushrooms xpert is a bit exagerate when is said you are playing russian rulete with amanita well then what ciencie is about? to keep us blind all the time iknow of the precautions of the amanita gender but here the indias have tested many varietis that ccience is only discovery for instance huichols indias here in jalisco most people know then because they use peyote in his life well they eat a white amanita call amanita tuza that resemble a squirrel the local call tuza and when come out push the earth in the same way unbelieve if i did not look it my self , thing is that there is many thing that taxonomist have to clear out in europe and many other countrys amantita mushrooms are very preciated that that fungophibic people make a enfasis in the danger is good for good reasoom but we are in 2007 we have to be more advance some time cience desapointme even that iam a biologist , but to not make a debate amanita ceasarea, amanita fulva, amanita vaginata, amanita pachycolea in fact amanitopsis the seccion of this amanita are all edibles they posees sustances that destroy the blood cell but are easyly destroy by heat and discardin the water where are boil,or heating really good , amanita rubences too, well this remenber me when i use to hunt in the wood of san sebastian a farmer a poor campesino saw me with the mushrooms he told me that he has many bad seasom that have no food i gave him the mushrooms and tooll hin how to reconice then now he is happy he has sometingh to eat after 4 years of knowing i alwasy tell him the risk of it but 200 kilometers in sierra de tapalpa you can see campesinos selling this mushrooms , i think i made a favor to that men having something to eat right there and starving , that why knolegse is a good thing but science is not the only way , but a lot of help
