Everyones Colonization Times

I've got 12 jars colonizing in the following conditions:
Jar Size: Pint Substrate: Vermiculite + Brown Rice Flour + water Inoculated with: B+ Spores Inoculation Points: 2 Temperature: 78-79F Light/Dark: Light, but not direct. Storage: 6 jars each in 2 plastic bins, with lids.
Other: Aluminum foil left on the lids as to not expose the inoculation holes... plus i didn't feel like taking them off.
It's currently day 13 of the colonization process. I have no contaminants as of yet. The mycelium is growing strong, a good 3-5 inch circumference at each inoculation point. When I started I put one 6 jar batch next to my computer (slightly warmer) and the second 6 jar batch in normal room temperature. After about 1.5 weeks I noticed that the first batch next to my computer was doing much better. I removed the second batch from room temperature and placed it with the first batch.
I was hoping to hear other peoples colonization set ups down to the detail, so that I could increase the growth rate and efficiency of my next grow.

Temperature is definitely the biggest factor in determining colonization time, followed by genetics.
Twelve jars left in an air-conditioned (~67-71F, COLD) room showed no growth five days after an LC inoculation. Set in the other room, in the cabinet above the fridge (~78-82F), they showed growth after only one more day, and are now nearly colonized four days later.

my friend just puts the jars into various dark nooks & crannies in her room and lets them slowly colonize. most of them are colonized in a month or two.

Yeah, keeping that temp range is about all you need to do. Lots of sterile technique, not so much work, with incubation.

Woah, a month or two? Someone's keeping them way too cold, way too hot, or is preparing the substrate wrong!
I had some multispore (non-LC) jars take four weeks once, but that was my first attempt and I was still incubating at like 85F back then. Even spores don't take more than three weeks for me now, and LCs often take less than two.

my jars are on day 7 of 78-84 depending on the time of day. and they are about 50-75% colonized. via spore prints. seems to be going great!

they're going at 23C, substrate is brf/verm mix, the basic pf-tek formula. for a 250ml jar she uses 140ml verm, adds water and mixes in 40ml of brf.

My recipe (and a common one now, though PF used to recommend otherwise) is 2:1:2 (verm:brf:water) by volume. Maybe you'll have more luck with this richer recipe--you should get more yield from it, too, since it has more BRF. Experiment, though, by all means.

you're looking at a month to colonize a pftek style pint, i can produce 5lbs dry in that time...rye grain, 5 days, full colonization, via LC, spawn 2 pints per lb of bulk sub, five days colonization, then 6 days to pin, 3 days to mature... wallah.
my question is..... why wait for a pint of brf...

because i don't need that much mushroom. i like the rule "don't grow more than you can eat". i like cakes because it takes time and i get an exact dose from them. in the end it doesn't matter.

Yeah, I believe my tubs this morning were created with spawn inoculated on 7/7 with LC.

good enough answer for me!
with an LC i can get a cake to be fully colonized on the outside in a week, but i'll birth it a week after that, so 2 weeks basically. Letting it sit for a week really seems to help it out for me. (before fruiting it).

your point of view intrigues me going to test LC inoculation out some day when fed up with cakes.

alas waiting for a pint - the reason in our case is that we haven't been able to get a pressure cooker yet.
