Those are absolutely not cubes. Looks like the spores were contaminated with another fungus.
Xax is mistaken, as well, about the other threads--there was one case of someone having what were apparently oyster spores in a "cube" syringe, and another case of another aggressive higher fungus taking over a cake (again, by contaminating the inoculant, though it wasn't an edible--I don't recall the name). I assume those are the cases he's referring to.
Take this to the hunting forum. Read the FAQ there and try to get all the ID criteria so they can tell you what you've got.
And dude, don't grow psychedelics in a house with somebody who's got kids. That's a huge fucking liability on his part.

ah didnt notice that there were not any cubes on there if you look at a few pics on here you can see that type of growth with cubes forming as well.I have dug into the subject alittle but havent found anything that states that you can fruit two species on the same cake i have read that they wouldnt be compatible. If you got that from a vendor i would be pretty mad and request another syringe.

You can definitely have two species on the same cake.
Here's GoldenSchlager's oyster/cube cake.

And here's a cake contaminated with Schizophyllum commune, a super-aggressive fruiting fungus:

The S. commune pic doesn't have any cubes in it, probably because "split-gill" is such an aggressive colonizer that it beat the cubes to the punch and took over the whole cake. It is a good example of how syringes are sometimes contaminated with non-mold (higher) fungi, though.
Two species of shroom don't really have to be compatible--similarly, two (or twenty) genetically unique cubes grow on multispore cakes all the time. They'll fight each other for substrate space until they run into each other, but once they take over an area, they seem to hold on to it.
Basically this would require that the competitor shroom found its way in during inoculation, though, which is why I figure a contaminated syringe is the only likely culprit in this case. I can't ID cocoa's mushroom, but I would absolutely not suggest that he eat it. I suggest he take it to the hunting forum if he's curious.
Again:
Check for bruising, but don't assume that means it's a cube. I used to think anything that bruised blue contained our friendly actives (since every mushroom hunter I've ever known off-forum assumed the same), but in fact there are some other bluing agents, non-psychedelic, which may trick you into eating something you shouldn't. These might be oysters or something, from the way the stems look, but the caps don't look inside-out the way most oyster caps do. I am not experienced at IDing shrooms, so take it to the folks who are.
By the way, the vendor (if it's a shroomery sponsor) will replace that syringe, from everything I've been told so far. I've never had to have one replaced, but I've heard the sponsors are all pretty on-the-ball when it comes to customer satisfaction.
There's a remote possibility these are just more fucked up no-FAE cubes, but they don't look right at all to me for that to be the case. The color and shape are too wrong.

So this would indicate then that you would be able to mix pans with cubes.

I didn't mean that they might get to it--I mean that if you got busted, the roommate could be implicated.
