I don't recommend LC for beginners. There reason is simple: You can't spot contaminants easily with LC, and the likelihood of a newbie having a sloppy technique and contaminating it is a real one.

do you think it would be possible to throw a piece of colonize PF cake into a fresh LC and get growth this way?

Would be easier to shoot some LC water into a colonized jar and suck it back up, but I suppose putting a chunk of cake inside would work, although I wouldn't recommend it.

That's silly. You can't spot contams in a homemade spore syringe either. What's the harm in taking 1cc of your 10cc syringe and making an LC with it? If it doesn't work, fine. If it does, great, and you've got a pint or a liter or more of inoculant, with which you can save yourself insane amounts of money you might otherwise spend on spore syringes.

My suggestion for the first-time grower with one precious syringe:

Make an LC with 1cc of that syringe. Use an established tek. Then use the remaining 9cc to create cakes as usual. If the LC doesn't work out, print from the cakes or order another syringe.

The only person who benefits from you not learning how to print or make an LC (printing, by the way, is just as prone to contamination) would be a spore vendor. While I understand their point of view, I can't see why they deserve your money any more than you do! Learn to be self-sufficient--that's what the hobby's all about.

I can't agree with you more figgus thats why I'm not giving up on LC's and even working making my own prints to keep shit afloat as I learn on the LC's..

I agree too, nothing to lose with LCs. LCs are good for yourself, whereas printing is good for trading, and trading is good for everyone!!! Don't give up!
