First off, do you have a resume and if so, paste it in a post here minus the company names and your personal info.

Second, agencies are awsome for quick work. What I do when times get tough is I get out the old fax modem, or save up a bit to use the fax machine at kinko's, whatever works. Then go through the phone book under employment agencies and call every single one of them asking for a fax number. Then I literally fax my rsume to over 50 places all at once and wait for the calls from recruiters to come in.

Other then that, start goign down all the streets near you asking each business if they are hiring.

sometimes u have to go where the work is
sadly alot of places have too many workers,too many immigrants
if your still bent on living where u r, maybe set up an ebay account and browse the thrift stores looking for stuff u can buy low and sell high, smaller items r best, to cut down on shipping charges
go to the local universities and look for research studies, some r cognitive based others r medical, i,ve made probably a grand over the years doing various studies,here in san diego in the local entertainment papers there are probably 30 studies being advertized for

My last job of 2-3 years was basically doing carpentry/painting/handy work and a lot of technical work in creating art...
I'm not looking for anything in particular, just something soon, I haven't had much looking around the city and such, so I'm even up for some bullshit data entry shit I could do from home or something...
