Looks like bacillus but it's hard to tell.
Toss that sucker but use some rubber gloves and a face mask for safety.
OR at least hold your breath and don't touch it when you dispose of it.
Better yet, toss the whole jar.

Here's the thing...it's perfectly white mycellium, but this thing is like a big bulge..as if you took a mushroom and mushed it up against the glass. This is the only jar (maybe one more) that is like this.

It's possible it's a mushroom- but I dunno. Hard to tell from that pic. Can you post a bigger one? And of course the nose knows- if you crack the jar open and sniff, you'll know in a second.

That is a contaminant.
I'm not qualified to say which one.
Do yourself a favor and toss that out.
It could be dangerous.
THAT IS NOT MYCELLIUM!

Recon,

I hate it for you, but sometimes you just have to bite the bullet and toss a few out. Anytime you see something in the jar that's not white and fluffy you need to be suspicious.
That cake is not fully colonized so there's no way it could be forming shrooms yet. And they don't look like that anyway.
If you want to save the jar, see my suggestion above about not touching or breathing the stuff and do it outside.
Look at it the way I do, that's just another jar to wash up and include in your next cook with bigger and better technique!

Good point. I've read through a few topics on re-using moldy jars too. CHEERS!!
