Hey man I'm bad at math also. For that size tub I usually use around 30-40 pounds of substrate to get that depth.

I always measure my stuff out in cups. I hate math. It usually comes out to around 120 cups of total substrate I believe, give or take. I usually make more than I need though. Thats 30 quarts.

A quart is 57.75 cubic inches. Since your substrate is 3040 cubic inches, it is 52.6 quarts.

5" x 32" x 19" = 3040 cubic inches.
1 quart = 57.75 cubic inches.
3040 cubic inches = 52.64 quarts.

make sure u are measuring inner dimentions- being off by an inch or so in each direction can make a big difference.

lol RR you must type faster

you guys know you can use google for this right?

try these searches...

"1 quart in cubic inches"
"1 pound in carats"
"1 cup in milliliters"

...it'll convert pretty much any equivalent unit of measurement for you.

It's also do math for you

(35*5*19)

...etc.

Keep in mind that inoculating or whatever in front of a flow hood won't help your bad substrate, your bad inoculant, your bad sterile procedure, etc. etc. etc. It's not a +3 flowhood of magic, it's just a tool.
