Dunk and Roll Question?

After every flush i dunk and roll my cakes religiously, i soak them at least 24 hours in a 5 gal. bucket and roll them up in coarse vermiculite(it's the only kind i can get ahold of) and set them back to fruit, but a buddy of mine swears to me that the fine stuff works a whole lot better, he takes and loads up a blender with vermiculite and puree's it until its almost a powder and uses that to roll his cakes, so my question is this. Does it really matter? i mean fine or course it all holds the same amount of water right? any input appreciated. thanx

From what I've read...

A cake rolled in course Verm doesn't give the added surface area (and water storage) that a cake rolled in fine verm does. I've also read that people don't like to use Verm that's TOO fine though. So from what I can gather the preference is Fine Verm... but not powder fine.
