? about shaking birdseed
    #720164 - 07/03/02 10:56 AM (22 years, 8 months ago)

At what point do most of you shake your birdseed jars for the first time. And do you shake it a second time, it seems like more often than not when I do a second shake, the mycelium becomes dry, the colonized chunks don't break apart, and the jar stalls out and never recuperates. Anybody got any advice??? Thanks a lot!!!

Maybe I'm shaking too hard, I shake the hell out of it until I can see no mycelium at all

Wait for colonisation, then usually shaken at 25% colonisation, then 50% then it should colonise very quickly.
Don't shake too hard!! Just redistribute the colonised kernels into uncolonised.

Good luck
