I used a big cardboard box for my substrate/casing. Big mistake  :lipsrsealed:
The box is now damp and too flexible at this point. Some mycelium is growing through the box on the outside.

Basically I "overwatered" the casing & the box, which is causing the slow mycelium growth (been 8 days with LITTLE mycelium spots.)

Any ideas?

If it doesn't contaminate first, it will fruit on the outside of the box. It looks really cool too. Keep it supported and don't try to move it until the mycelium becomes a solid block.

I use this method, but line it with thick trash bag liner and foil substrate liner. I cut perfect pieces of trash bag to fit tight and snug. I am able to reuse the same boxes.

Ah yes of course. It's just the sides are just too wet, leaving a gap between the substrate block and the sides. Tiny mycelium spots are developing on the outside as well. Pretty confused as to what I should do at this point, but waiting seems to do for now.

Disappointed about the waiting time, since it was too wet; been about 8-9 days in incubation. Heavy evaporation as well.
