Hi everyone, just got a question,
I have 3 x 250ml pf jars colonising with some amazonian spores,
but one of the jars has just hit the nos and is nearly fully colonised, leaving the other 2 in the dust which are only about half way, will there be any problems in fruiting the ready one first without the other 2, and then once the other 2 are done let them join the party?
been thinking of why not and cannot think of one bad reason why, im sure you guys will know! cheers,
n420

Nope! But give it a few days after full colonization before you birth it; it's gonna need that time anyway; it might as well still be in the jar.

Don't forget to dunk & roll!

Cool, didnt think so!
and yes ive been considering casing like a good'un but i must have shrooms by september, and cant afford any contams.
but im about to order some more spores, and with them i'll probably case but around here i cant find any oyster shell.
whats a deadly fast coloniser?
my amazons have been colling for about 13 days and ones about 80-85% which is pretty good, but whats faster?

the mycelium would really appreciate it if you would leave it in there for about a week after it shows as being fully colonized. It allows it to completely consolidate it's hold over the substrate in the jars and also gives it a chance to shrink enough so that it'll just slide our of the jar when tapped.

If you fruit them before the extra week is up, it just means they're going to sit there for a week doing nothing anyways. Might as well let them stay in their sterile environment during this time, right?

---
As for which is faster, casing or cakes. Cakes would be because to case your cakes you'd have to wait while your cakes were colonizing the new substrate you introduced in their new home. Cakes would begin fruiting as soon as (see above) they're pulled out, dunked and rolled.

Keep in mind that inoculating or whatever in front of a flow hood won't help your bad substrate, your bad inoculant, your bad sterile procedure, etc. etc. etc. It's not a +3 flowhood of magic, it's just a tool.

I have never seen a jar start pinning right away no matter how long I leave it consolidate. The quickest I usually get pins is a week. I have good FAE and 99% RH as well. Believe me I would love them to pin right away because they seem to do nothing but dry out the longer it takes them to pin.

Cheers

PF's strain of Amazon and the B+ are both fast colonizers.
