here is the deal, no verm in croatia . I wanted to try the pf tek so i did next thing , took some millet and cooked it in pc ,took it out mixed it with some small scale gravel to keep it loose and put this substrate in 1/2 pint yars,putsome gravel on top and sterilized it for 1 hour,let it cool over night and inoculated this morning.
will this tek work?
any suggestions?

gravel..like as in rocks....and you mixed the rocks directly with the millet. ive never heard of anybody doing this before....the rocks definatly wont colonize but the millet will....keep us posted on your results...

Are these rocks porous or like pebbles? How big, on average?

I'd say it will probably work, though I don't think adding the rocks would give you any real benefits over something like vermiculite. What was your theory in adding them to the rocks in the first place, or was it just a gut-feeling experiment?

IU think he put the gravel in only to beable to shake it.
if that is the reason you don't need to it will shake with out anything else in it but the seed.

i just did it to make it more loose and airy ,and these rock is realy small,2 mm average,and put some on top to reduce the chance of contamination.
i will try to let the mycelium colonize the whole jar witouth shakeing and birth it in a form of a cake. i am just intrested to see what will happen

since your using milet you dont even need the rocks...just use straight seed.

certain rocks are known to harbor positive micro organisms in soil. Something about their micro structure allows oxygen water to flow and be stored.
