Yeah, Doublethink I'm aware of the allegations and the book. I was being sarcastic when I referrred to "wonderful philosophy of socialism" because Nazis were/are in fact Socialists (National Socialist German Workers Party). It's my understanding that old man Kennedy (Teddy & JFK's dad) was a Hitler sympathizer as well. Yep, socialism, the saviour of mankind.

I'm quite fond of socialism also.. and the things that seem to go along with true socialism (not a dictatorship).. Sweden has something like 98% literacy, I think ours is something like 70% or same depressingly low number.. I'm no fan of neo-Nazi anti-Semitism though... although sadly this part of the country (Idaho/Montana) seems to be quite a haven for such thought

Why can't you understand what you hate? Probably because you don't want to. Your mind closes to it, and you want to destroy it. You can understand THAT you hate it, you can understand what is terrible about it, but you can't be objective about it. Consider some of the hateful remarks on this forum. How does a person get to the point where he or she has no problem promoting genocide?
Let me use a half-serious example, you can take it or leave it: When Luke was on the planet with Yoda and he went off and had that dream, or vision where he fought Darth Vader, why did he see his face in the mask after he cut it off? When I first saw it I thought it was revealing that he was Vader's son. Now I think it was saying that if he can't let go of his hate, he would become like Vader.
Obviously you're free to think and feel how you wish. But I just want to say to everyone reading this, don't let your anger grow into hatred. It puts you into a vicious cycle, and it compromises your judgement.
I think Swami's post on boundary lines in the spirituality forum is well put, and I want to suggest a correlation between that idea and what I'm trying to say.

This is a broad generalization, it may be the way your mind works, but it is not the way everyone's mind works. Some people may hate something precisely because they understand it.
You can understand THAT you hate it, you can understand what is terrible about it, but you can't be objective about it.
Passion and reason are not diametrically opposed and can be fully developed within the same individual. One can objectively analyze and fully understand something and subjectively feel disdain, contempt and hate for it as well. Perhaps you might research the history of warfare, the tactics and knowledge of commanders of opposing sides and you might understand more fully how this can be. The most successful Generals understand their enemies.

The sand castle is a tribute done in sand by the Indian folks... a bit morbid, but was NOT done in celebration.
We're seeing a mixed bag of non-Muslim Indians, Hindu and probably Sikhs (3 guys with turbans at least). The rest of the guys aren't what you'd expect of either Sikhs We know from the woman there's Hindus around. Look again at the women: no head coverings.
The history of the photo is:
Puri Beach, Bay of Bengal, India during the annual Beach Festival.
September 26, 2001.
Artist is Sudarshan Patnaik, the people shown in the photo are simply passers-by and spectators.

Even if it is real which I still doubt, the fact that this was done as a memorial only sheds more light on the fact that many of the people in this thread have no historical or cultural understanding of the Middle East.

You calling the Nazi "Socialist" was perhaps one of the funniest things I have ever heard. Yes they used the name Socialist but they were so far from Socialist it isn't even funny.
If you take a look at the historical record the first people that Hitler went after were the Socialists and Communists (and of course the Jews), which he wiped out at a record pace. The Nazi's were perhaps the best example of Fascism the world has ever seen. I could call myself a Zebra but that in itself does not make me a Zebra!!
Furthermore, look into other countries and you will find that "National Socalist" is really another word for "Fascism"!!!!

Germany does participate in war again. Just a couple years ago was the first time since WW2. In the invasion of Serbia German troops and air men fought with NATO allies.

Sorry politikill but the quotes are taken directly from the points of the NSDAP (Nazi) Program. They were composed by Adolf Hitler and Anton Drexler. They were publically presented on 24 February 1920. All these points were part of Hitler's agenda. Please feel free to eliminate the parts (if any) for which there was no planning, goal of implementation, or were not in force during the era of Hitler, what remains is socialist. Facism is indeed a form of socialism.

And this proves what?
So the Nazis suppressed other factions of socialism. How is this different of various religions being eliminated or driven underground by the dominant church? It was a power struggle of various factions, the Nazis won that round.
Anyone who believes in the implementation of socialism via the state is advocating the use of the coercive power of the state to implement his particular agenda. He is advocating the intiation of force against his fellow human being, whether he wants to admit it or not. Taken to it's logical conclusion this will entail the killing of those who resist and refuse to give up their resistence.
