the top of the pin is really dark but not like black black. It looks kinda firm but i dont want to touch it, lol. Im still so paranoid about contams. Started off with 22 jars and im down to 10 due to lipstick and wetrot. If it was dead would it keep growing? its so freaking thick and continues to grow by the day. Thanks on the compliment on the setup, i love how it looks, just hope it works.

sounds fine, from the sounds the pin is just dark. They tend to be darker at first and then the color sort of mellows out a bit as it grows. If its fruiting, all sounds good then.

Air Exchange, Take a lid from one of the tops, and use it to fan out the old air in the fruting chambers, do this 3 times a day or more if you have time.

fanning should help alot. if you're an automated kind of guy (and it looks like you might be) there are various set ups you can use to fan for you.

yea i was going to do that to when i started i got the idea from erowids. but if your just going to do fruiting chambers like your you can easily get by with just having 3-5" of rinsed well draind perlite in th bottom of your fc and set your cakes on some chicken wire like you have. then you just mist a few times a day and fan them to give them their frequent air exchanges they need. its alot cheaper. ultrasonics are way over kill for your setup.

I ment, Doesnt light get under your cakes as they are off the perlite a bit? You never have pins form on the bottom of your cakes and have them grow into the perlite?

Fanning will make a big difference. CO2 is a lot heavier than H20 and will sink down and smother yer babies in their cribs unless it is fanned out. Good luck.

Quick update, that fat pin I though was dead is about to turn into a shroom, the cap is starting to form. Also i fanned last night and today for the first time, and no word of a lie two more cakes have tiny pins and the fat pin cake has two pins that are quite large. Thanks for the advice guys, ill get pics in a few hours.
