Perlite humidification

So I got a rubbermaid container and put a 5 inch layer of wet perlite at the bottom. Then I put a hygrometer inside the container and the humidity went up to 80% then stopped at 80. Holes in the bottom made no difference either way. What ways could I add additional humidity to my container. I was thinking about putting a bubble rock from a pet store inside a jar of water will that do anything at all for humidity?

search around
i've been having a lot of issues keeping my f/c humidity up too
i'm shaking my head looking at all the success around me with no real alterations to the shotgun chamber, while my cakes have been in it for almost 2 weeks without any pinning at all
I have been considering adding a cool mist to my chamber, but fom waht i've ead aound here, it shouldn;t be necessary. I mist every day to help keep moisture in the container, and i ll be plugging some holes so it cannot escape as fast. A bubble rock has been suggested in a few threads i've gone thru, but there's varying answers, and it just depends on who you ask, so...
mist every day, multple times, if you hafta, plug some of the holes to keep the moisture contained
if you happen to get a definitive answer on this, i'd like to read it too.

Did you wet the perlite, or did you SOAK the perlite?
I rip a hole in the top of the bag, poke 2 small holes in the bottom, and use a garden hose to fill the bag.... I let it sit there soaking for several minutes and I remember having RH way over 80%.
I didn't have holes in the FC though, which could be the difference.

Are you sure that your hygrometer is calibrated correctly? For all you know you could have 100% RH but your hygro is just b0rked

Do a salt test on your rh meter. with a 5 inch layer of wet perlite you should be reaching higher than 80

I have seen A setup that had a Fish Aquarium Heater in a glass of cooked water to raise humidity. But I have not tried myself.
