So I'm kind of new to this...

Alright so I haven't started to grow my shroomies yet. But I'm trying to get as much information on it so I can go into this whole thing as educated as possible with very little chance of MAJOR failure.
I'm just wondering (I looked through the strain thread)...What would be the best strain to grow in like Upstate NY/ Buffalo area? Something pretty sturdy to put up with a first time grower, but also potent.
I'm okay with heating the jars. I was thinking of like the water heater thing i saw a tuitorial for..(any opinions on that?)
Finally (sorry for asking so much) But does anyone know a good tuitorial for how to make spore prints/ steralizing my syringes???
I'm more of a visual learner
Thanks guys, Mary

I'm pretty sure you're going to be fine with any strain of cube you choose,if you're growing indoors.
As far as heating the jars, do you mean during the incubation period? After you're inoculated them and what not. I've used the Tub of water and the Fish tank heater with tub of jars floating in the water - thing before. It works, get a cheapy thermometer to put in the tub with the jars though, cause sometimes those aquarium heaters are off, I advise not getting the heat over 80 degrees, cause the activity in the jars will generate some heat on there own. also get a fully submersable (sp?) aquarium heater, that way you have to do no construction to your tub.

Oh, and i really like the Lazy Bastard's Syringe Tek, for printing and making syringes, its basically just a ziplock bag and some slight of hand.

for making a spore print, I sterilize foil by baking it at 500 + degrees for about 20-30 minutes. then I let it cool. then I place the cap on the foil, and cover it with a CLEAN glass. and wait 24 hours.
for sterilizing syringes, but them in a jar, needles up. and then just pressure cook them how you would a jar of substrate, if you dont have a PC, you can boil them. its just not as effective.

Here's a nice Tek for spore prints for beginners, very similar to the post above.

Careful when asking for videos, or you might invoke the curse of the RadelBaluvar.
Whenever we have a party, we turn the lights off in the bathroom and stand in front of the mirror and chant "RadelBaluvar RadelBaluvar RadelBaluvar"

after you knock up your jars there is no need for "incubation" letting your jars colonize at room temp is just fine

That is some quality advice right there. If for some reason you can not afford the video (i don't see how you can afford not to have the video) at least check out the free segments RR has done.
