Brusing vs. Mold
    #7186457 - 07/17/07 01:47 AM (17 years, 6 months ago)

Hello all,

I am a first-time grower and was having some difficulty at the end of my harvest. I have only picked from two of four rice cakes for fully grown fruit bodies. The natural brusing occured for the first two where i touched them (mazapatec), but I must have done nothing more than brush up against the other and it seems there is blueish coloring on the other fruit bodies, mostly on the side. Is this normal or is there something I should look out for that could be a possible contamination.

Thanks

Sandy

Sounds fine. if you're really concerned you can do the q-tip test. But just based on my personal situations i'm saying its 99percent likely bruising.

I'm sure they're fine...

The q-tip test is rubbing a q-tip on the discolored area. If the color comes off on the swab, it isn't bruising, but something growing on the cake.
