MOE HOWARD (or any outdoor guru) HELP!!!! hehehe
    #717677 - 07/02/02 09:01 AM (21 years, 8 months ago)

OK this question pertains to an outdoor patch that HAS produced some good shrooms. If you go to the grow log forum you can see my minimal sucess. (treasure coast setups . by me floydseamus) My concern is that i've only got 3 mushrooms from this patch and no other pins. The three i got wieghed 45 grams wet, and i consider that a great achievment considering this is my first attempt at growing of any kind. (i do have indoor setups going also.) I just need to know if there are any ways to induce pinning. Since its basically an outdoor casing, i was thinking of deep scratching it. Any ideas? comments? insights? Is there any other ways to help the pinning along other than deep scratching? I have waited and waited to post this cuz i didnt want to seem impatient, but now its more worry than impatience. Please help.

well, it doesn't work too well with cubies, but you can try covering the patch with ice cubes about an inch thick. this increases humidity and decreases the temp, and has been known to incuce pinning in some cases.

Never heard about using ice cubes, but you should water them or keep your straw on top nice and moist. Remember your outside, and its going to tkae a litle longer between flushes.

Thanks guys, i really appreciate that feedback. So, no one thinks deep scratching the patch will help? It is getting plenty of water, i water about everyday.

I heard that deep scratching can hurt the mycelium and slow the next flush from comming on. Think about it, when your flush is over there are already new knotes ready to become pins, if you destroy those knotes then they need to grow again and then pin. I wouldnt suggest it....
