RR is talking about some cakes in a terrarium. i read that post awhile back. these were just hiding out in the dark waiting to colonize. by no means was I trying to fruit them. Something triggered premature fruiting.

My 2 cents: It began to produce fruits for whatever reason, but odds are that the fruit bodies it produced grew as they did due to the level of CO2. Apologies if that confused anyone.

Definitely high CO2 levels. Next flush should be a great one given proper parameters. GL

It is pretty obvious that CO2 was the direct culprit as stated above. The issue here is what initiated them to pin before full colonization of the substrate. I would wager that they got some amount of fresh air that initiated pinning. More than likely the result of too much peeking.
Pick 'em and eat 'em. If you put a casing layer on, make it fairly thin. Your mycelium is already out of the vegetative state and into a fruiting state.
One thing that I have found effective in this situation is skipping applying a casing layer keeping the lid on the sweater box during fruiting. Just be sure to fan as often as possible. The substrate will maintain the humidity of the box through evaporation. Just inject a little distilled water into the substrate where needed in between flushes.
Because the substrate is not 100% colonized, it is susceptible to contamination. Allowing it to fruit in its own box ensures that if it does contaminate, it won't spread spores to your other casings.

More than likely it was light remember pins can form invitro without any fresh air at all. There can also be other issues involved such as contams present.

AbyssWP said: high levels of co2 dont trigger pinning, you probably just have a really fast fruiting substrain, and the small amount of FAE it got when you chcked them and the small amount of light it got probably triggered pinning
Pins can sometimes appear even when not all the pinning triggers are present. I've had fruits appear in grow-bags left in complete darkness (no peeking) for a solid week.
As everyone and their mother said, this is what an oxygen-starved shroom looks like.
Whoever said to clone them for laughs was mistaken. Cloning this fruit would be the same as cloning any other fruit in the batch. :P Unless you believe in Lamarckian heredity (i.e. unless you're a nutter), acquired characteristics are not passed down genetically. This is strictly an environmental thing.

Maybe. What are we, psychics? They're not turning into 100g monsters anytime soon, though--or even 10g.
Pick them and start fruiting as normal. Why do people cling to bad pins and fruits like they're the only ones they'll ever get?

didn't quite understand your last post? but ummmm I don't like eating mushrooms, because I like being fully aware of my surrounding. I do it for the homies.........I smoke 2much damn chronic, I would grow it if it didn't stink, raise the electricity bill, take 4ever, require much more skill than shrooms. I just trade alota shrooms for a lil chron.

How are you fruiting them?
Give them more fresh air, that's the only solution. RR gave some good pointers for that.

I tried fruiting them once and they stayed the same size. I basicly open the lid to find those damn stringy things. i pick them and throw them away but its such a hassle

Huh? You "tried" fruiting it? What are you doing with it now?
The substrate is ready for fruiting. That's why it's pinning. If you're not exposing it to proper fruiting conditions (high FAE and humidity), that's why you're growing these stringy things instead of full mushrooms.
I don't get what you're confused about.
