Whats your favorite song ever and why?

Ok, I was bored so I grabbed my ipod clicked shuffle and "surprise" I didn't even know the song was on there. I figure I cant be the only person who ignores some music on their computer or ipod. So, who is your favorite artist, what is your favorite song by them, and why?

My personal favorite is "I'm Not Okay(I Promise)" by My Chemical Romance. I like their music because I can relate to alot of it. That song is my favorite because it was the first My Chemical Romance song I ever heard, and I know have been in very similar situations before.

My favorite artist(s) and song(s) change all the time. Whatever I listen to depends on what I am feeling at that exact moment. There is so much music out there and so many ways to relate to it.

1983 - Jimi Hendrix

Please don't make me choose between those two songs, it would be like a mom having to pick a kid or a artist having to pick a painting. I see so much of myself in both of those songs, like I think those two songs define me better as a person than I ever could. I know that sounds strange but it's true.

i first heard this group my first acid trip.. year 2000.  just an awesome chill song.

It's one of my all-time favorites but I can't pick one over all of em.  this one sticks out though :smile:

Wow. I honestly have too many to try to pick. I'll just name mine from each genre.

At the momment, it's "Hurt" by Christina Aguilera. Before people flame me, I generally don't like most "pop", but the lyrics and instrumental with THAT
VOICE easily make it the best of 2007.

This is a really tough question....

I cant narrow it to a song, but any thing 'Isis'...great post metal band,all of their songs are great IMO.

I *almost* want to say Bohemian Rhapsody, just because me and this song go way fucken back...and it's ALWAYS touched me in ways that 99.9999999% of the music out there couldn't ever even begin to fucken aspire to

...BUT...

I have this ungodly infatuation with Pink Floyd, and I hold both Echoes and Atom Heart Mother to such unrealistic standards (roughly the same as a lot of people will for Bach or Beethoven or some shit) that I can't help but feel that these two pieces of fucken artwork are akin to the fucken Sistine Chapel or some shit

Queen may have painted the Mona Lisa with Bohemian Rhapsody, but Floyd created the entire collective works of the italian renaissance with Atom Heart Mother

Anywhere the wind blows!

well, mine is more like a combination of songs from the Grateful Dead's "Truckin' Up To Buffalo" July 4th, 1989, "Ship Of Fools"> "Playing In The Band"> "Terrapin Station"> "Drums"> "Space"> "I Will Take You Home"> "All Along The Watchtower"> "Morning Dew"> "Not Fade Away" and "U.S. Blues", which isn't linked to the other songs but makes for a nice ending to the album.

because its basically a story of his life growing up and how hes made it so far and how he went from rags to riches from nothin to somethin. its a very classic and inspirational song by one of the greatest who ever picked up a mic :wink:

That and Aenima by tool .. To be fair though; it pretty much changes every week, depending on my mood .. like others have said.

oh that is much too difficult! i could never just choose one song, let alone an album. I can only go as far as my favorite bands which are Muse, Radiohead, Team Sleep, Thrice, Finch, Chili Peppers, Circa Survive, Incubus, Silverchair, Sublime, Coldplay, Me, Nirvana, Deftones, STP, APC (that is in no way chronological) There are other bands that are close to being up there but those are at the top.

My favorite song has been Pink Floyd - Dogs for a really long time. The lyrics are wonderfully cynical, which fits my attitude very well. Also, it includes some of the best guitar solos that I have ever heard.

its impossible to choose but there are three songs that give me shivers every time i listen to them

Echoes by Pink Floyd, Kashmir by Led Zeppelin, and Terrapin Station by the Grateful dead. I have a thing for really long and epic songs. I usually don't even let myself listen to them unless its the perfect time.

This song is the culmination of all things medieval music. It is perfect in form and function

My favorites have changed alot.

For the longest time it was Metamorphosis by Curved Air, a band that got big in San Fran at the tail end of the Haight - Ashbury years in the late 60s. It is a very beautifully orchestrated song that begins with a piano then transitions to a sort of march and then explodes all over yer brain with some of the best early use of synth I've ever heard, which makes it one of the best Songs to experience using Milkdrop. (I beleive I've uploaded the song onto the server if anyone wishes to take a listen.)

A year or two ago I would've agreed with Muppet and said either AHM or Echoes. Although anything from Ummagumma live is great when in that certain state of mind.

Some of my favorites now include Ween's Buckingham Green, the Beatle's Don't Let Me Down, and Led Zeppelin's 7 to 11.

Beethoven's Piano Sonata No.14 1st movement, the "moonlight sonata".

Its both beautiful and tragic at the same time, the greatest piano piece IMO, I have liked it for the longest time

It was also played at my grandmother's funeral so it holds special meaning for me.

No idea what my favorite song is........ thats so hard to decide.

A song that really stands our to me is Any Colour You Like... I played that song really loud on a jukebox during my first acid trip when I was really confused and amazed... that song absolutely was amazing, probably will never forget that :sun:

Fireworks by Animal Collective. A lot of their music is ridiculous, but I never get sick of this one. The little piano riff warms my heart! :smile:
