I just use a rubbermaid where you press down in the middle and it pushes out all air. This way i'm drying the shrooms and not the air.

Rubbermaid container. Drierite on the bottom. A paper towel over the drierite. Shrooms on the towel.

I just put my first mushie ever into the dehydrator. I use a Nesco brand dehydrator set at the lowest temp (95 F). Lots of peeps use dehydrators with good results. I would recommend one you can control/lower the temp though...no sense roasting them if they can just be warm-air dried. Plus ....those who swear by the oven tek are using 100-150 degree temps; way hotter than a controllable dehydrator.
Have fun!

My cat uses an old mayonnaise jar with dryrite in the bottom and a sock stretched over the top with the shrooms in the sock and the lid screwed on. plus you can buy dryrite at kmart ( at least heare you can) you will probably pay less at kmart then you would at the myco supply.

Or you can buy a really cheap dehydrator that you can't control the heat on.....then just open up the bottom and pull out the part that heats it up. With no heat it's just like putting them into a little hurricane jr..

My friend uses a large tupperware container, like the kind used for leftovers. Dessicant on bottom, wire wesh above that. Put the shrooms on mesh. Close lid. It has a pretty tight seal. Go to Wally World and check out some containers and their lids till you find one that you feel is right.
Good luck!

Well if you've got about 3 days this works great.
It's simply a layer of plastic screen on a box fan. The fan sets on books and blows down. Simple, cheap and effective.
But if your going to use DrieRite then listen to Anno, he doesn?t miss!
