yes, those are [in coon's case] Panaeolus subbalteatus. there are many mushrooms which look superficialy like them, to varrying degrees.
coon: i told you i gave you permission. curses are no match for a machete.

I see 'em all the time and I'm in fucking Texas too... I didn't know that's what they were, but I took a photo of a cube with pan subbs growing right beside it, and I see the same mushrooms all the time. Next time, they go in my paper bag.
Two in this pic... on either side of the cube and a little above it.

nah, the white things are flower petals that fell from the tree from all the rain. I think Crepe Myrtle trees...
But there is myc around the base of the cube, yeah.

a bit higher, yeah. 2048 x 1152. But it's blurry... camera was moving slightly when I hit the button. Not bad at the rez on this board, but it's very noticeable at the full resolution.

WOW!!! You made it!!! I'm looking forward to hearing about how they compare to your gyms and whether you find them easier to consume.
Hopefully you will collect enough for the whole family!
I like the picture. Do you have a new camera or just upload at a higher resolution?

pan subbs are way easier to consume I would imagine, but I can put down gyms pretty easy too if I got some fruit punch to wash them down.I think the gyms would be more potent than the subbs.people will probably argue that though.
I've had this camera all season,it's a kodak easyshare z612.still figuring out how to use it correctly.most of my pics look good on easyshare but when I upload them to here they usually look shitty.
that's the coon family portrait if I ever saw it,georgeM.

I agree. Pan subbs are excellent eating, even raw. They have a really nice flavor to them. A bit of a crunch that some don't like. I think if they were lightly sauteed in butter, you'd have a tasty psychedelic treat.

hello sorry to interrup coon but i have a question for you i have try pan. subbalteatus. many times is like any of my other experience with psylocybe when i was young we used to eat pan. subbalteatus, pan. sprictinus, pan. papiliocelus or soorry i misspeel i guess, pan. returis, pan. campanulatus, and can asure they are alucinogic , but what i like to ask is that paneolus subbalteatus give me a very intense felling of euforia lot of visual, happy fellinng peaking to extasiis ,not to many vision only with paneolus cyaneces or any copelandia i wonder does gym are a diferent experience have you take a full dose to tell the diferent sorry maybe is something personal to ask but i fell like asking have a god day my friend

No. They are not all psychoactive. That is fact.
What you may have experienced is a placebo.

Are you going to try introducing these things to your yard or what coon?
CureCat... so long as this mushroom has eluded coon's grasp, I doubt he would make a mistake in identification. Surely his senses are amplified to a point of near pathological hyper-lucent rapture.
But yeah.... a couple of those do look like foes, better make prints heehee

well georgeM,they are kind of in my yard already.foes are in my yard too which are pretty much dwarfed by these puppies but I'm going to print them anyhow.has anybody had success with these with cardboard spawn?just so I can get them to more suitable habitat.

I’ve never tried Panaeolus stem butts on cardboard but it is worth a shot… cubensis occupies a similar environmental niche and they seem to work well enough with cardboard in my experience… not for fruiting but for culture storage. Perhaps you could try pasteurizing a small amount of straw and introducing stem butts or semi-cleanly excised tissue samples. Just place your substrate in a container with suitable thermal retention qualities, pour boiling water over it, and allow this to naturally cool before draining. Then simply make quick transfers.

well... it might be that easy and possibly successful... it might not. The low tech approach doesn't provide as many assurances as more rigorous tactics but it is worthy of tinkering with.

hell, I still have living Lepista nuda myc on cardboard in my fridge. It hasn't grown more, but it hasn't gone away either. I need to do something with it. Maybe a small transfer to rye grass seed or something similar, then to straw.
cardboard spawn is great.

It sounds to me like he is still asking how a gym high is different from any other mushroom high, however you have already answered this so I guess I could be wrong.

um... had the L. nuda myc since um... April or May? I think so, yeah.
It's still fuzzy and pretty and sitting there in the cardboard. Took a long time to start colonizing, but once it did, it spread out a bit and stopped.

I also prefer gyms. They contain drugs similar to those in kava kava along with a potent dose of psilocybin if you get them young. They taste bitter, but they don't make me gag like active psilocybes do. I agree that pan subs are the easiest to eat of any psilocybian mushroom I have tried.

My w*fe tried psychoactive mushrooms for the first time earlier this summer... cubensis. She laughed without interruption from the hour of midnight until approximately half past five. It was nice she enjoyed the experience however I found the whole exercises extraordinarily taxing. At the time I was overly concerned with a mild case of dysmorphic delusion regarding a clanging introspective critique of my resemblance to that of a monkey festooned with ornamentations of an overly gaudy nature. It wasn't quite nightmarish however against a backdrop of incessant laughter, the situation was amplified to nearly uncomfortable levels. That was a fun night.
Subbs are extremely mild by comparison in my experience, even at relatively high doses resulting in open eye visual hallucinations, the sense of urgency doesn't reach overwhelming heights... but all this is subjective...
We all really look forward to hearing your report on the subb bioassay coon.... so get your on and find enough for a full dose!!!!
