Tourist injured after taking mushrooms

AMSTERDAM – A 19-year-old tourist from Iceland jumped from a hotel window in Amsterdam last weekend after ingesting fresh hallucinogenic mushrooms. The boy suffered broken bones in both his legs and feet.

The Volkskrant reports this on Friday. This is the third serious incident involving hallucinogenic mushrooms in Amsterdam in a few months' time.

In March a 17-year-old French girl jumped to her death from a bridge near the IJ tunnel after taking hallucinogenic mushrooms.

In June a 22-year-old British tourist lost control after taking the substance. He trashed his hotel room on the Martelaarsgracht in Amsterdam and threw items onto the street, injuring one passer by.

The sale of fresh hallucinogenic mushrooms is permitted in the Netherlands. Dried mushrooms however are prohibited.

The municipality of Amsterdam has shut four shops that sell mushrooms and other substances this year because of violations of drug legislation.

I almost jumped off the top balcony of the Pepsi Arena Albany NY while tripping balls at a Phish Show. I honestly thought I could just glide right down to the floor. Luckily I still had some whits about myself and made myself go sit down. That was the most fucked up night of my life. Ill never get that messed up again.

I don't know what to say about all this. It pisses me off when people say "oh its just stupid mother fuckers not the mushrooms". Fucking most people could handle 7 grams there first time without doing something fatal. But obviously hallucinogenics and certain people and amounts aren't good. Going around preaching its something perfectly safe with no risks is wreckless and stupid. I believe in the benefits of using psychedelics. But there has to be some control. Vendors in amsterdam shouldn't give that much to a someone they don't know. Fuck start out everyone they don't know at 1 gram. You see someone around you interact with them, maybe you can give them more. Ideally a doctor should do it as they would prescribe any other kind of medication.

So what im getting at is, fucking a few more of these stories, shop will be closed up for good. You people calling people who were seriously hurt after taking mushrooms dumb fucks are assholes. What if was your little brother or sister. But psychedelics should be available to everyone else who can handle their shit.

Listen, when it comes down to it a drug user is taking risks. You don't think the dude who jumped out of the hotel window realized that by eating these mushrooms he was altering his brain and maybe he shouldn't act out every fucking idea he has? I've thought some crazy shit on shrooms but it comes with the drug, you have to expect it. Sure, perhaps it should be dispensed differently or somebody should sit down these people and tell them what to expect before hand, but that's in the hands of the people distributing it.

One time when I was on shrooms I thought I could jump in a fucking freezing lake and could breath underwater by a combination of swallowing and breathing in my nose. Did I do it? No. Wanna know why? Because I am not an idiot.

I don't know the numbers, but I'll guess that it's millions of people, tourists and locals, purchase and consume magic mushrooms in Amsterdam.

Out of all of these people, the press can find three negative instances where mushrooms could possibly have been a factor.

Statistically then, 'magic' mushrooms have got to be unquestionably the safest of all intoxicating substances known.

I don't think that anybody is saying that. What we are saying is that mushrooms are one of the safest and most personally valuable drugs that you can do.

Your problem is that you are confused by your WOD propaganda based preconceptions (illegal drugs are dangerous and bad), and the reality and facts that people are trying to convey to the public (mushrooms are far safer than almost every prescription and OTC drug on the market today).

No we're telling a hard truth. Some people aren't mentally fit to take psychedelic drugs, just like some people can't handle a fast car, any amount of credit, chocolate, alcohol, so on and so forth.

Those people frankly aren't smart, aren't mentally sound, aren't cautious, and/or aren't capable of taking responsibility for their actions or making any medical decision for themselves.

Actually there have been several hundredds of peiople who have had bad mushroom experiences in the Nederlands according to hospital reports published in Dutch Papers.

It is not jut one or two people.

Also, the sales clerks at mopst of the smart shoppes have no idea what they are selling.

They are like the 80-year-old-lady sales clerk at Macys who is about to sell yo a $600.00 digital camera because she has been working thetre for forty years. She has no idea how to operate the camera.

I watched a clerk tell an Italian kid that the cubes are a tranquil less visual high than the Copelandia mushrooms which give you a mickey mouse kind of visual high.

There are also people in the Nederlands who od on pot which is too potent for them.

They need the pharmacies to proscribe the shrooms with legal people who have a medical background.

Do you have proof for that?

the yearly count was about 5 tourists per year until this year

yesterday a french tourist cut his Dog open with a knife in Amsterdam since he wanted to release his Soul (he claimed he used shrooms and weed)

Drugs should be banned just for Tourists, they don't know how to use them normally like we do. :wink:
