Well I can't find a pressure cooker, but if the point is just to heat up the rice for a while, why not just put them in the oven for a while?
And if I do, what temp should they be at?
THanks!

Well I can do that, but why? I mean that's the whole advatage of a pressure cooker, right? that it cooks at a higher temp? or does the pressure help kill things too?
I was just hinking that I could get the same temp in my oven as that in a pressure cooker.
Thanks for your suggestion but i need an explanation

yeah you can use a normal pot.I haven't tried it cuz i got a PC . Use the following tek if you don't have a PC: 1: Boil in normal pot 1hr 2: wait 24 hrs 3: do 1-2 three times
you wait 24 hrs between boilings cause in that time the bad, bad spores will germinate and then are easier to kill. Maybe you could do the 24hrs thing in your oven, too.

If you put you jars in the oven, the temperature will stay at 212?F as long there is some water present. After all the water has evaporated, the temperature will go higher and the contenst will be backed.
Do you really want to do this?

I see what you mean.. the oven wouldn't be any better than boiling it, because the water can't get hotter than 100 C..
Thanks! well I guess I'll keep boiling it over and over until there are no more contams..
also, if there is a little contam, and i boil it, do you think it's ok? Ah I guess I should just boil every day for as long as possible.
Thanks guys!

I highly doubt it's completely necessary to boil the jars 3 times...phrozendata said he had a 90% success rate when boiling jars. As long as you put the jars together in the cleanest enviroment you can, you'd probably have to boil only once or twice. i mean, hey, if you want to do it 3 times and wait 3 days thats your decision.

The shrewmen are buying a pc soon, but have had great results with boiling. Make sure you have a pot with a tight fitting lid. Put a dishrag on the bottom (if the jars are in direct contact with the bottom, they might crack). Place your jars in and fill with water about halfway up the jars. Bring the water to a soft boil, then cover and let boil for an hour. Do not remove the lid until it is completely cooled (overnight). No need to boil more than once, this might change the moisture content. Oh yeah...the shrewmen also presterilize their substrate by spreading the verm and brf on seperate cookie sheets and bake in oven at 350 for 20 minutes. Then measure and mix. This is all in the MMGG.
