ashes froma fireplace....

Has any body tried this before ? I was thinkin about the fire in Az in the white mountainsMy question is such Can i put ashes from my fire place from a natural hard wood source ground up real fine like in a 50/50 casing? and or do i have too adjust ph level some how....Any and all suggestions appreciated.

ash is good for soil, but you got to add plenty of fertilizer I think,, because the ph is strange. I don't know what, but it has 1 1/2 percent K and 7 percent potash

Ashes is alkaline.
So you probably could substitute the limestone with ashes.
But I?m not sure on the amounts, you?d have to measure the pH and adjust it to 7.5, otherwise you risk that your casing will be too alkaline.

Add two tablespoons hydrated lime to one gallon of your 50/50 mix. Casings become more acidic with time, so we make it a bit alkaline to start with.
