Are you a "Regular" anywhere?
    #7165917 - 07/12/07 02:16 PM (13 years, 9 months ago)

I've always wanted to be a regular at a bar or a cafe. Not just having the people work there recognize/know me but have them know exactly what I want when I come in. There's this guy Wally that comes to the venues I work at and when he comes in, no one asks him what he wants. It's a small cup of bourbon and an Amstel Light poured into a tall glass. Every time. And he never gets charged, he just tips exceedingly well.

And my friend James, a security guard at one of those venues, goes to the same diner for breakfast every day and has his own table there where they don't seat anyone in the morning except him. And when he comes in, they know exactly what he wants.

Yeah. I wanna be a regular someday.

I'm a regular at one of the diviest bars on the island. I go there when I get off work, usually around noon or so :-) At that time of day it is frequented by other tour guides who are done with work nice and early. I walk in the door and my gin tonic starts getting poured. Service!

At a few places actually, at a local casino up here usually from the time it takes me to walk through the door to the time it takes me sit down at the bar counter there's a Hefeweizen and some nuts sitting there waiting for me. Also at the local bar in my old neighborhood everyone pretty much knows me and it's always a white russian and a hefeweizen when I walk in. I don't really hang out at either of those places on a regular basis though, it's more about tipping well and being a nice guy.

You'll become a cafe regular when you are 80 years old, but you will tip for shit and sit their talking too long.

my dad has been a regular at various bars for as far back as i can remember.

now i've got nothing against my dad, he is an amazing dude for the most part,

but i would NEVER want to be that guy, who is guaranteed to show up and drink,

and if he doesn't, people start to wonder where on earth he could possibly be.

I work at a bar / restaurant. We have a few regulars and to me it is kind of sad. Sad that someone has nothing better to do than to go and drink at the same place every night. One guy is basically in there every night from 4 till 12. I wish he'd go out and find something better to do. He is a really good guy, I just feel bad for him.

a few years ago, i went on vacation and there was this really nice beach bar. i went in, walked to the bar, got a beer and started talking to the bartender. she was really cool plus she was hot. so i kept going to the bar pretty frequently over the next couple of weeks. after a few weeks, as soon as i walked in my beer was being opened and my vodka was being mixed. it was pretty cool, everyone that worked there was pretty cool. i went back a few months ago, walk into the bar and to my surprise she still worked there. turns out she's now a diving instructor too, so she works at the bar only on weekends. we went diving the next day, and now i have a place to stay for free whenever i'm on the island.

gotta love the island lifestyle. :yesnod:

One day...you'll be a regular at your place...you'll have your seat where no one else wil sit...you'll be served by a hot chick who'll know what you want w/o having to say it...I know when my husband wants a cup of tea for ex....
You won't get a service charge....and the tip will be great sex.

Have a great time finding that "regular"...

My local bar knows me, not as a regular, but I mean a lot of people know me there and I fixed one of the bartender's computers so I'm not exactly a stranger either...

I'm a regular at the Thai place down the street.

They know me by name and get concerned if I'm not in for a few days.

All the regulars who come into my work are real creepy and have nothing else to do with their time but try to shoot the shit with a bunch of people have their age.
