New product to try does it work??

I was at the garden store today looking for coir ( needless to say I could find none more on this later) and the guy showed me a new product they just got in. I forget the name but it was tiny white crystals in a packet and when you add water they turn into a jelly like substance that you mix in your soil and it releases water slowly. i says rduces watering up to 50%. I was just wondering if any one had seen this or tried to use it and if it worked.

I asked for coir at a bunch of places and they kept showing me these mat like hings. This is not what I want is it? Where can I get this stuff. I found a type of reptile bedding that have heard about on here can I use this instead?

i heard of people using the reptile bedding. do a search to find out which one.

"Bed a beast" from petsmart is one brand of coir. It goes for about 5 bucks a brick.
