Quick birdseed q and Casing Q

Hey my friend started 6 qt jars a week ago...used 2ccs of solution per jar. He followed DethHeads tek for water ratior and rinsing. All that he has seen in the jars in a week is clumping of the seeds that weren't clumped before. Is that what myscellium looks like in birdseed? He has grown pf jars for awhile now, though this is his first attempt at birdseed. Penningtons brand I believe. Any help on this would be great.
Another Q
Ok his first flush of the EQ casings were great...plenty to dry. 3" by 6" pan. 2" brf/verm mycellium + 1" Miracle Grow with Aqua Coir. No problem with the first flush, the second one is being odd according to him. When the fruits were picked a lot of the soil stuck to the stalks, so he placed a thing layer of MG across all of it and misted it every few days. All he sees on the casings are primordia growing up the side of the pan where it pulled away.
Thanks for any help!! Elendril

No. It should be nice white, just like pf cakes

I don't recommend miracle grow(never used it, so Im not saying it is bad, but..)
The situation you are describing, is often caused by too dry a casing layer. Did you re-moisten it to capacity before patching? Also, if the mycelium network was damaged, and you just put it back into fruiting, It could be that the sides were the only points where the mycelium was strong enough to be capable of fruiting.

You need to pull those babies out without taring your casing up. I use latex gloves so i don't have to worry about my dirty fingers twist and pull i know they can be stubborn if it doesn't want to come twist and pull the other way, work it out. Don't go crazy with the casing just patch your holes and fill in the sides... injecting spring water down the sides where the casing pulls away has helped me big time with flushes. Also don't go crazy trying to pick all the dead pins off they won't hurt anything and the less you handle your casing the better off it will be.
