Cool Mist Inside Greenhouse.

Well I dont want to deal with hooking it up with hoses and what not right now (I will eventually) and noticed that people said that putting a cool mist inside the greenhouse, towards the top would be fine.
My question, what about FAE, wouldnt this just be recycling the same air therefor there wouldnt be any FAE, or atleast not much. Is this really a true concern I should have? and will manual fanning 3-4 times per day be sufficient?

Put the coolmist near the bottom, not the top. Cut holes/windows for FAE. RR

I know RR is a tough act to follow but does anyone have anything else to add. Perhaps just additional suggestions.

RR advised me on the coolmist inside the greenhouse. i supplement it with moist perlite which seems to be doing well.
for FAE i just fan it every 3 hours or so.
personally i don't make any windows for FAE, although that's just my personal preference

He is not really a tough act to follow, he does shit right the first time. I would really suggest getting the tubes and fitting and what not to get that coolmist and any others you maybe using out of the greenhouse, you can fan every few hours but I seriously cannot emphasize FAE enough and the coolmist sitting outside works wonders for sure. I am by no means an expert but here is what simple PF's spawned to h'poo with a top layer in a "martha" type setup can do..

I keep mine in the greenhouse for simplicities sake. It sits on the bottom shelf with the flap rolled up to the shelf above so the intake is almost outside. That plus some holes/flaps is all the FAE you need.

I plan on running the hoses (probably just 2) and putting the coolmist on the outside, I just wanted to be able to use it for awhile without doing any additional work.
Someone said that running hoses from the coolmist would burn the motor out? Anyone had this happen to them when running hoses?
Also RR didnt mention how long he reccommends running it for.. some people say 24/7 and others reccommend timing. Opinions here?
Thanks for all the help!!!

Im sure ill just end up toying around with it and seeing what works best for me. It will probably require a little trial and error but im sure ill figure something out.
Ive thought about running a computer fan too, somehow mounting it to the side of the greenhouse, would this be helpful with a coolmist OUTSIIDE of the greenhouse, or only inside?

With mine inside the greenhouse, it only needs to run one or two minutes, followed by five to seven minutes off. I tweak the cycle timer depending on season and ambient humidity in the room. If you run it longer than fifteen minutes, you'll have water everywhere.
I burned up at least 20 coolmists before I stopped modding them and placed them inside. The same two coolmists have now been in the mini-greenhouse for over two years. Using hoses creates static pressure that ruins the bushings, thus burning out the motor in a very short time. Coolmists are designed to provide humidity, not move air. RR

Alright, final question. I hear people here having trouble finding a good timer for achieving this kind of cycle, for the cool mist, where did you get yours, or what kind is it? so perhaps I could try to find one similar.

hey blutjager, do your lower shelves end up with more moisture than the upper ones? seems like my cool mist will push the visible mist about 3/4 the way up my 4-tier, then it ends up falling on all the trays in the lower shelves. when the air circulates, the top shelf gets the perfect amount of humidity while the lower ones are just plain wet.

I usually have the thing run for an hr and than off for two, with the zippers only half way zipped it seems that the moisture that gets to the top shelf gets trapped by the plastic and the lower shelves get to evaporate the water by being more expose to open air,I do sometimes have the bottom ones look wetter or the top ones look dryer and if that happens I will just swap their locations for a day or so till it balances out again

FAE is not a problem at all with the cool mist at the bottom. The only problem tends to be that a lot of humidity will escape if your holes are too many/too large. As a result, I've closed up all the holes save for the one next to the cool mist intake. Really, a cool mist gets the air going so well that the real concern is over-drying due to FAE. Just went to check on my grow today to see a massive pinset turned into a massive flush of mostly-aborts, due to some problem with the humidification setup causing lots of flowing air but too little moisture. Had to pop the cap off the impeller to see if I could get it to suck more water into the air. Uh, but I digress.

I got my cool mist hosed up to my green house and its been going for months now.
I run it 24 7 and have to mist my casings now and then. Get some great flushes to.

I never use an ultrasonic but you don't need one to soak things,if you leave a coolmist running 24 hrs a day without the zippers at least halfway unzipped you will get water pooling in your casings

I had cakes dry out last night with both my cool mist and my ultrasonic running at the same time in the greenhouse. I don't know what's making my closet so dry, it's insane! The reservoirs are both absolutely full, too. Gotta go check on them in a bit, see if they've improved.
Had some nice, big, fat mushrooms coming off that grow, and an absolutely beautiful pinset... lots of aborts, now, and a few survivors.
I had some flat plastic trays set up on the second shelf, meant to catch any falling shrooms (they do like to fall through the gaps into the perlite if I don't harvest them right away)... I'm thinking those might've caught a lot of the humid air and deflected it downward, while the dozen cakes on the top shelf simply dried out from the air exchange holes. Still, weird to see two humidifiers fail to keep cakes from getting bone-dry! I'll be sure to relate the cause of the problem, if I'm ever completely sure.

I use vicks 400's and if they run more than ten minutes, there's a flood. It sounds like you must have the wicking type, which are really not suited for mycology. A good impeller type coolmist will saturate a mini-greenhouse full of holes within minutes. I don't use ultrasonics, because the two coolmists sitting on the floor can easily provide upper 90% humidity in a greenhouse the size of three marthas. RR

I've got a cool mist with an impeller and another with a wick--that's what I meant to say earlier, not ultrasonic, but wick-based humidifier. The wick is my backup--I'm only running it in conjunction with the other.
I think my cool mist is busted. It's the only explanation I can come up with. It stopped working about three weeks ago, then, after being unplugged for a few days, started running again. All I can figure is that there's some problem with the impeller, and that the fan's still running, because my grow was bone-dry the other day. Before that, the cool mist alone was enough to keep the whole greenhouse saturated. Thinking I'll check on it again today before tossing it out.

Take the cone off the impeller and clean it. They get clogged up on the inside after a month or two. On the vicks, you can do a twist and pull, and the cone slides right off its backing plate. RR

15 is far better than 1 hour timers that are common

I was lurking around walmart for about an hour today and came across some decent brinks timers. but they only had 6 daily cycles. I do like ones that have a digital clock built in.
What does the one from CVS look like? Is it just a dial with pins?

I think this spinning one can have 7 or 8 on off things a day.
So I could have it come on for 2-3 minutes 7-8 times a day.
I just can not figure out wtf I am doing trying to set it,
I always think I am setting the timer on off and then bam I am somehow back on the regular clock fucking it all up or the other way around o.O

Yea I finally got it to work.
I can have it come on and off for 4 minutes 6 times a day 7 days a week or pick it to only do it on certain days which would be weird.

Now I have it set to 10 minutes every 3.5 hours so it should stay pretty humid and I created a intake so it will also cause fae.
