You have to read this post before requesting an ID.

1)location: pennsylvania, it was along the rough trail kinda on the side with compost and dead leaves.. 2)cap: thick gills and its white.. the cap is kinda fallen away from bugs eating it. 3)i cleaned it with water throughly and got all bugs and dirt off.

It could be an Amanita or Lepiota, but there isn't really enough information to make a reliable guess.
I would need to see a couple pics of older specimens, especially macro mode shots of the gills.
Also, a good picture of the base of the mushroom is important if it is an Amanita.
A spore print would also be helpful.

Dude why would you eat that thing? Let me ask that....
It has no active quality's... It could be toxic.... It could be harmless... Who knows but what I can say for sure is don't eat it! Would you mom want you sticking that thing in your mouth?;)

you may not survive eating unidentified mushrooms. Always get a 100% positive ID. Even a 99% positive ID is dangerous. Liver failure is a bitch.

As Alan said, either Amanita or Lepiota. I'm inclined to guess it's morelikely to be an Amanita, but it could be either.
Amanitas kill more people than all other mushrooms put together. Unless you're an expert on that genus you shouldn't even consider eating one. Lepiota also has deadly species and is responsible for a lot of deaths, with the same toxins as the Amanitas. The toxins kill by destroying your liver, then you take an average of 7 - 10 days to die of liver failure. If you haven't read the symptoms of liver failure, it's a good exercise. It's pretty low on my list of ways to die.
Happy mushrooming!

That mushroom could be a deadly Amanita, I can't tell you for sure without looking at the base of the stem. Most white Amanitas are deadly.
There is at least a 33% chance that this one would kill you.

Even if it was an edible or active, you should not eat rotting or entirely infested bug mushies.

larval infestation can sometimes be impossible to avoid. in such cases, so long as the bug damage has not begun to rot there is no problem. there are to my knowledge no plant/fungi burrowing hexapoda larvae which are toxic to consume. the only problem i can imagine is when they track bacteria into the holes they eat, which can cause food bourne illness
