Chlorine is an element by the way. Always found in its diatomic state CL2. Chlorine is not a "Chemical". LOL.

Just FYI everybody, I use tap water in my PC and to hydrate grains, every single time, never any problems, never any complaints.

An element can be a chemical. Chemical is a generic term for anything used in or relating to chemistry. Look it up if you want.
The freshman bit was a gag--no need to get so upset! I can't help it if I respond to someone who ends every other statement with "L8R LOL" with some doubt as to their professional education. You also said you were a chemistry major, which to most people would mean you are still in college, and which makes me suspect you're full of it saying you have a doctorate.
Anyway, since you studied/are studying chemistry, you should know how incredibly little chlorine there is in tap more than anyone, and how steam from the tap will contain as little chlorine as the steam from the kettle you use to drink tea (though pressurized).
I'm not saying you have to switch to tap, or anything of the sort--but I am saying that it's absolute, unscientific bullshit to imagine it's dangerous for your jars (which can be and often are made with tap water anyway--and thus, as I said, contain MORE chlorine than the steam) or for you (because people drink the water with no ill effect every day). In other words, everyone, feel free to ignore this nonsense. You can breathe steam from your teapot, and your jars can breathe steam from your tap too.
No personal affront, again. But bullshit is bullshit, and this is the stuff. Tap water is absolutely fine to use in a pressure cooker for any and all purposes.
Dear God.

Now that is the one good reason not to use tap in your PC--the residue is annoying. But that's from calcium, not chlorine, and it's pretty easily removed.

I have almost always used tap water for everything having to do with cultivation with the exception of using water from the Brita pitcher to top off the cool mist cause I'm too lazy to want to carry the damn thing to the sink and have to walk back with it wobbling and spilling a trail all the way back to the greenhouse

Oh yeah i see what you mean, thanks guys for the input. That calcium does get anonying but eh i just found something that helps get rid of it...a simple green scrubber. i'll just use tap water for when making the subtrate, and distilled for the pc

It makes more sense the other way around. *sigh* In fact it doesn't really matter either way. The calcium deposits come off with a freakin' paper towel, folks.
