You have no idea how badly I want to pick these

I'm holding off picking these because I want to take prints. I don't think they are quite ready. They're B+ So they should flatten out a bit more. The other reason I haven't picked them is my Ronco food dehydrater hasn't showed up yet.

WOW! You need to pick them soon or they'll drop a bunch of spores on your casing and in my experience that slows down/inhibits the next flush

awesome job man, those look beautiful
i have one concern though, you mentioned a ronco dehydrator... i didn't think those had adjustable temperature settings. will it not be too hot?

No problem I can do a voltage divider with some high wattage resistors that I'll series up with a potentiometer or two so I can adjust the resistance until I get just exactly the temperature I want. Or I might just be lazy and just disable the heating element all together.

Just open the dehydrator up and bypass the heater part, been a long time since I did it but it was just an unhook an re-connect with one of those little spade terminal thingy's. Used it to dry with no heat and to help heat the nursery with it hooked up. Very versatile machine!

Are they P. Cubensens? I see they get bigger around at the stem than most the wild field finds I get. I need to get a dehydrater too but am concerned that they lose there potency after dehydrated I put an oz in my freezer rite after they were dehydrated and they wern't as strong. I only used them once a month but kept taking them out to inspect them. maybe I should separat them into 1/4 oz so they all don't thaw at once. any sugestions?

Ah you're just shorting to ground before the element. Yeah that's pretty much what I had in mind. Good thinking about the heating element. Might come in handy come winter.
I may have to bow to public desire and go buy a scale so I can weight these babies. *sigh* but I just want to eat them instead
wipikas1 I'm not quite sure what you're asking me. Are you asking me about the day I inoculated the WBS? I inoculated the jars on 6/11/07. Here is my grow log if you want the details. http://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Cat/0/Number/7088782/an/0/page/0

I have seen P. cubensens in the wild last for almost 4 days after I see the sprouts. From the time they get soaked to the time they (god willing)decay. I was wondering how long that took. I think that my field got its first soaking rain a week ago and I still see them! How long do they grow like this? Does outdoor fruiting get contaminated also? If you say your "cake is contam" does that happen in the wild? Is it just another term for decay?

I made 7 quarts of WBS. I washed them till the water was clear. Then I soaked them in 1/4 strength coffee with gypsum for 24 hours. Then I heat them up to a simmer for 20-30 minutes. Then I Pressure cook them for 1 hour.
I use 250ml to 1 table spoon Karo for my LC. I pc that for 15 minutes.
I use a glove box, gloves, hair net, and face mask for doing injections. Always flame my needle between each use. I clean everything with alcohol.
I let the WBS colonize to 75% then shake.
Then I just case per casing101 Tek but I use MGMC instead of 50/50 mix. I used Monstermitch's tech for pasturizing casing. For more details on that see my grow log.
Then I fruit in 72F and 91%RH. I have a light on a timer that does 12/12. I think I misted the casing once. That's it.
Thanks again all! C.H.

Kick ass flush man .... I hate making prints, with the exception of trading them off for other strains or if you aren't growing for a very long time I see no real reason to make them, just always clone your best fruit or make some lc and you will never run out of stuff to re start off with

N2deepe thanks and I'm glad you've learned from my errors, but I have to say I'm definitely not talented. I'm not being modest I just want to dispel any illusions. Up to this flush I've had pretty poor success. Honestly I've just studied the living heck out of these boards and their archives. Then I worked really really really hard at this and still I failed in some manner or another. Each step of the way I would fail and try and learn from the failure. I've said it a million times experience is a cruel teacher but she's the best one too.
One step at a time Blutjager. I'm cool with making the prints. I sort of liked it actually. I think they are sort of pretty. I collect biologicals sort of. So the prints were actually the real reward for my work more than the flush itself. Though don't misunderstand I'm quite eager to chow down .
My cloning skills just plain stink. I'm working on it but so far I haven't had much success cloning. Now making an LC from a multispore syringe is another story. I think I have that pretty much down. Though I did have one contaminate recently. Anyhow I think after another 10 or so casings like this one I'll have a decent idea of how to treat a casing. Once I have a really good understanding of how to case properly and manage the moisture of the casings I'll refocus on Agar and cloning. I still toy with it but I haven't gotten super serious about getting it right. So far I just use it to check my LC for contamination and occasionally attempt to clone something. My only real success in that regard has been Shiitake. Which I still need to fruit...
Anyhow here are the prints.
  .

Thanks again everyone. The encouragement is really helpful and I appreciate it. This hobby really is lots of work if you want to get it right. Though I've found it to be a labor of love and I don't regret one second or one cent I spent on it.
For those of you curious about what I'm doing next, keep reading my grow log.
