Deleted My Memory Card---Ideas?

Alternately titled; "Hi, I'm a Fucking Moron"
I just got back from a long 6-week trip all over the Southwest US, and I took almost 2000 pictures on my 4GB SD memory card. I was just showing them off to some relatives last night, and they asked about how many more I thought I could fit on the card. I was showing them the memory capacity screen and I accidentally formatted the whole memory card.
So, all these pictures are gone. I hit the button to bring up the catalog, and I see "No Pictures".
Fuck.
So, who has a handle on some good software to get this back? I see there are about a bajillion different companies out there selling seemingly the same thing, but I dont know any of them from Adam.
So someone drop me a line, or let me know of a reputable service-type company that does this? I see some places where you mail your card in to them, and they restore what they can and send it back?
What is the best way to go about this?

It's free to recover your pictures, you only have to pay if you use it for something else.
It should work just fine.

That looks pretty simple.
Thanks, and I'll try it as soon as I get home and can get to my card-reader.
I'll report back.

I've successfully used it many times and I don't think you'll have any trouble retrieving them.

Because you can recover your own pictures, or because you can recover their little 'trial nude photos' they took of themselves?

No time to do it yet.
I'm ridiculously busy.
Everything at work has seemingly collapsed in my absence, so I've been pulling double shifts every day since I've been back.
This is relatively low on the priority list.
