Trippin Song Lyrics

You just know that some song lyrics talk about that other place, Some are more subtle than others but you can just tell that the words are written about tripping. Post your favorite song lyric: 1) Wind in the willow's playin' "Tea for Two"; The sky was yellow and the sun was blue, Strangers stoppin' strangers just to shake their hand, Everybody's playing in the heart of gold band, heart of gold band.
2) Seven faced marble eyed transitory dream doll, Six proud walkers on the jingle bell rainbow, Five men writing with fingers of gold, Four men tracking down the great white sperm whale, Three girls waiting in a foreign dominion Riding in the whalebelly, fade away in moonlight, Sink beneath the waters to the coral sands below.

This ones for you Ripple:
If my words did glow with the gold of sunshine And my tunes were played on the harp unstrung, Would you hear my voice come thru the music, Would you hold it near as it were your own?
It's a hand-me-down, the thoughts are broken, Perhaps they're better left unsung. I don't know, don't really care Let there be songs to fill the air.
Ripple in still water, When there is no pebble tossed, Nor wind to blow.

Got another one, this sounds like a trip.
Oh, the streets of Rome are filled with rubble, Ancient footprints are everywhere. You can almost think that you're seein' double On a cold dark night on the Spanish Stairs.
Got to hurry on back to my hotel room, Where I've got me a date with Botticelli's niece. She promised that she'd be right there with me When I paint my masterpiece.
Oh, the hours I've spent inside the Coliseum, Dodging lions and wastin' time. Oh, those mighty kings of the jungle, I could hardly stand to see 'em, Yes, it sure has been a long hard climb.
Train wheels runnin' thru the back of my memory, When I ran on the hilltop following a pack of wild geese. Someday, everything is gonna be smooth like a rhapsody, When I paint my masterpiece.
Sailin' 'round the world in a dirty gondola, Oh, to be back in the land of Coca-Cola!
I left Rome and landed in Brussels, On a plane ride so bumpy that I almost cried. Clergymen in uniform and young girls pullin' muscles, Everyone was there to greet me when I stepped inside.
Newspapermen eating candy Had to be held down by big police. Someday, everything is gonna be diff'rent When I paint my masterpiece.

Last November, I had the chance to meet Jon Anderson in Zurich, he was on the "Magnification" tour with YES. I like to listen to YES music very much, but I wouldn' t call myself a big YES fan. I don' t know much about the biography of the band members, but I like the lyrics of some of their songs. I haven' t a clue if any of the band members ever used mind-altering substances, but some of the lyrics are kind of trippy :-) These are the words of one of the songs from the "Magnification" album, released in 2001.
"In The Presence Of"
Deeper than every ocean Deeper than every river
That' s what yor presence brings to me
Revealing the words I listen Seeing you in my silence Learning I' m with you constantly As I was before
If we where flowers We would worship the sun So why not now? This high is shining brightly Brighter than before
As the door was open wide There inside was a diamond chair Where I sat when I was young I wrote down the words
Only when the young at heart Can enter the real world This change I' ve waited for For you to see
If I had chances I would spend them with you To hold you close and let your love surround me Deeper than before
(Deeper than every ocean) And I know this love is real (Deeper than every river) Realize ths is ment to be That' s what your eyes they say to me You are listening to how I feel So expectedly (brighter than every morning From the ocean to the sky (Beautyful as the sunset) Every river to the sea Nature surrounds me constantly We can hear love constantly This is for you and me
Turn around and come deeper now So what happens when I touch you there You feel the words roll over you
Thinking of the better scenes The memories As everybody else just Hasn' got the time To help you anymore
'Cause if the reason for The things that pleasure us To please ourselves Not pressure us To give our ego Some pleasure time
Can you imagine Any reason To know you' re only fooling yourself And then you' ll Understand why You' ll understand why
So if we choose to realize All existence is a dream This perfect resume to you From me
Just had a tough time with magic The death of ego The moon It was just coming through
Send me such a good time In a letter form, tell me The pleasure, no pressure Pure imagination in a metaphoric dream
I get amazed like a true beginner I get amazed like a true believer I get amazed when I see you there And I come alive I believe I' m a true beginner I believe I' m a true beginner In your arms I can see it all I can see it all
If we were flowers We would worship the sun So why not now? This light is burning brightly Brighter than before
Turn around and remember that When it gets so low As you finaly hit the ground
Turn around and remember that Now I' m standing tall Standing tall on sacred ground
Turn around and remember that When it gets so low As you finaly hit the ground
Turn around and remember that Now you' re standing tall Standing on sacred ground
-------------------- Remain in Light

Definitely The Beatles.
Across The Universe (one of my all-time favourites)
Words are flowing out like endless rain into a paper cup, They slither wildly as they slip away across the universe Pools of sorrow, waves of joy are drifting through my open mind, Possessing and caressing me. Jai guru de va om Nothing's gonna change my world, Nothing's gonna change my world.
Images of broken light which dance before me like a million eyes, That call me on and on across the universe, Thoughts meander like a restless wind inside a letter box They tumble blindly as they make their way Across the universe Jai guru de va om Nothing's gonna change my world, Nothing's gonna change my world.
Sounds of laughter shades of life are ringing Through my open ears [views] inviting and inciting me Limitless undying love which shines around me Like a million suns, it calls me on and on Across the universe Jai guru de va om Nothing's gonna change my world, Nothing's gonna change my world.
Enough said

Really cool song Lyrics......
In the attics of my life, full of cloudy dreams unreal. Full of tastes no tongue can know, and lights no eyes can see. When there was no ear to hear, you sang to me.

Paradise waits, on the crest of a wave, her angels in flames. She has no pain, like a child she is pure, she is not to blame. Poised for flight, wings spread bright, spring from night into the sun. Don't stop to run, she can fly like a lie, she can't be outdone.

Well this makes me happy anyway!
Early one mornin' the sun was shinin', I was layin' in bed Wond'rin if she'd changed at all if her hair was still red Her folks they said our lives together sure was gonna be rough They never did like Mama's homemade dress Papa's bankbook wasn't big enough And I was standin' on the side of the road rain fallin' on my shoes Heading out for the East Coast Lord knows I've paid some dues gettin' through tangled up in blue
She was married when we first met soon to be divorced I helped her out of a jam, I guess, but I used a little too much force We drove that car as far as we could abandoned it out West Split up on a dark sad night both agreeing it was best She turned around to look at me as I was walkin' away I heard her say over my shoulder, We'll meet again someday on the avenue, tangled up in blue
I had a job in the great north woods working as a cook for a spell But I never did like it all that much and one day the ax just fell So I drifted down to New Orleans where I happened to be employed Workin' for a while on a fishin' boat right outside of Delacroix But all the while I was alone the past was close behind I seen a lot of women, but she never escaped my mind, And I just grew tangled up in blue
She was workin' in a topless place and I stopped in for a beer I just kept lookin' at the side of her face in the spotlight so clear And later on as the crowd thinned out I's just about to do the same She was standing there in back of my chair Said to me, "Don't you know my name?" I muttered somethin' under my breath She studied the lines on my face, I must admit I felt a little uneasy When she bent down to tie the laces of my shoe, tangled up in blue
She lit a burner on the stove and offered me a pipe I thought you'd never say hello, she said You look like the silent type. Then she opened up a book of poems and handed it to me Written by an Italian poet from the thirteenth century And every one of them words rang true and glowed like burnin' coal Pourin' off of every page like it was written in my soul from me to you Tangled up in blue
I lived with them on Montague Street in a basement down the stairs There was music in the cafes at night and revolution in the air Then he started into dealing with slaves and something inside him died She had to sell everything she owned and froze up inside And when finally the bottom fell out I became withdrawn The only thing I knew how to do was to keep on keepin' on Like a bird that flew, tangled up in blue
All the people we used to know they're an illusion to me now Some are mathematicians some are carpenter's wives Don't know how it all got started I don't know what they're doin' with their lives But me, I'm still on the road headin' for another joint We always did feel the same we just saw it from another point of view Tangled up in blue

There is no pain you are receding A distant ship, smoke on the horizon. You are only coming through in waves. Your lips move but I can't hear what you're saying. When I was a child I had a fever My hands felt just like two balloons. Now I've got that feeling once again I can't explain you would not understand This is not how I am. I have become comfortably numb.
O.K. Just a little pinprick. There'll be no more aaaaaaaaah! But you may feel a little sick. Can you stand up? I do believe it's working, good. That'll keep you going through the show Come on it's time to go.
There is no pain you are receding A distant ship, smoke on the horizon. You are only coming through in waves. Your lips move but I can't hear what you're saying. When I was a child I caught a fleeting glimpse Out of the corner of my eye. I turned to look but it was gone I cannot put my finger on it now The child is grown, The dream is gone. I have become comfortably numb.

Ripple - you happened to pick one of my favorties with Tangled Up in Blue. While Dylan made the original, I still like Garcia's version off of his JGB Live album better...

Yes I agree Garcia really did justice to Dylan's words! I saw him do Tangled Up in Blue several times with the JGB but the standout version was from a show in Asburry Park NJ (not sure of the spelling) in the late 1970's I think it was.

I like this one too:
New Speedway Boogie
Please don't dominate the rap, jack, if you've got nothing new to say. If you please, don't back up the track this train's got to run today. I spent a little time on the mountain, I spent a little time on the hill I heard someone say "Better run away", others say "better stand still".
Now I don't know, but I been told it's hard to run with the weight of gold, Other hand I have heard it said, it's just as hard with the weight of lead.
Who can deny, who can deny, it's not just a change in style? One step down and another begun and I wonder how many miles. I spent a little time on the mountain, I spent a little time on the hill Things went down we don't understand, but I think in time we will. Now, I don't know but I was told in the heat of the sun a man died of cold. Keep on coming or stand and wait, with the sun so dark and the hour so late. You can't overlook the lack, jack, of any other highway to ride. It's got no signs or dividing lines and very few rule to guide.
I saw things getting out of hand, I guess they always will. Now I don't know but I been told If the horse don't pull you got to carry the load. I don't know whose back's that strong, maybe find out before too long.
One way or another, one way or another, One way or another, this darkness got to give.

Jamiroquai From: A Funk Odyssey ------------------------------------------------------------------------
Corner Of The Earth
Little darlin' don't you see the sun is shining Just for you, only today If you hurry you can get a ray on you, come with me, just to play Like every humming bird and bumblebee Every sunflower, cloud and every tree I feel so much a part of this Nature's got me high and it's beautiful I'm with this deep eternal universe From death until rebirth
This corner of the earth is like me in many ways I can sit for hours here and watch the emerald feathers play On the face of it I'm blessed When the sunlight comes for free I know this corner of the earth it smiles at me So inspired of that there's nothing left to do or say Think I'll dream, 'til the stars shine
The wind it whispers and the clouds don't seem to care And I know inside, that it's all mine It's the chorus of the breakin' dawn The mist that comes before the sun is born To a hazy afternoon in May Nature's got me high and it's so beautiful I'm with this deep eternal universe from death until rebirth
You know that this corner of the earth is like me in many ways I can sit for hours here and watch the emerald feathers play On the face of it I'm blessed When the sunlight comes for free I know this corner of the earth it smiles at me I know this corner of the earth it smiles at me I know this corner of the earth it smiles at me I know this corner of the earth it smiles at me I know this corner of the earth it smiles at me
This corner of the earth, is like me in many ways I can sit for hours here and watch the emerald feathers play On the face of it I'm blessed When the sunlight comes for free I know this corner of the earth it smiles at me

There are to many good songs and lyrics out there for me to pick a favorite, but I've enjoyed Science by System of a Down a lot lately, not a whole lot to the lyrics, but they make good sense to me:
Making two possibilities a reality, Predicting the future of things we all know, Fighting off the diseased programming Of centuries, centuries, centuries, centuries.
Science fails to recognize the single most Potent element of human existence letting the reigns go to the unfolding Is faith, faith, faith, faith.
Science has failed our world Science has failed our Mother Earth.
