Moe,
Take a roll of plastic wrap and cut it into approx. 2 inch rolls. These little rolls are perfect for sealing petri dishes.
This should eliminate most of the contaminates creeping in along the edge.
Agar work gets REAL easy the more you work with it.
P.S. strech the plastic wrap tightly around the petri dishes to ensure a good seal.

And, moe yes the goverment is working on molds to destroy drugs but it is a mold that attacks pot plants.
