How to get temerature LOW enough for fruiting?

Hey everyone,
I have a problem! The outdoor temerature is 42 C or 107 F, my incubator/terrarium is always kept at 80-88 F. Before when it was winter, when i built my incubator/terrarium the heater i used was the only thing heating the chamber. Now the outside temperature if affecting it. Before when i lowered the heat on my aquarium heater the temp would drop to fruiting conditions, but now it just stays at incubation temp because of the outside temperature!
How can i cool my terrarium to fruiting temps???
Thanks ALOT! Fd

You could just cold shock them in a fridge for a few days, and just keep your fruiting chamber as low as it can go. Possibly put a fan near it to keep it a little cooler.
They can still fruit in the 80s

I'm cold shock/dunking for 12 hours. I dont think a fan on the outside of the chamber would do much good because the air is just as hot. A fan inside wouldn't do much good either would it?
If i cold shock how long, on average does it take for pins to form?

I wouldnt put a fan inside. Contams and other shit from the fan will just blow around. Do you have your setup in a closet? Thats what I have and the temperature fluxuates so much and sometimes gets very hot. Also, I have my nicubator in the same closet as the fruiting chamber. WIth that and the light above, the temperatures sometimes gets high. I really dont have an answer. But if you find out how, please let me know how to drop the temp.

Well, the first thing you ought to do is cold shock your stuff. If the temps are just REALLY high, though, you might need to take some drastic measures:

The above image depicts a really ghetto way to cool your terrarium using water flowing through a coiled tube in the bottom. You want as much tubing as you can fit down there. The water in the aquarium will stay around room temperature, which ought to be cooler than your terrarium. If not sufficiently cool, you can add block ice to the water to make it cooler. You could replace the aquarium with an insulated cooler and keep ice-water in that, too. A good cooler will stay cold for days with enough ice in there. I have seen electric coolers at Wal-Mart that seem like they might be a more maintenance-free solution for this, too.
That?s the best I can come up at the moment.

I have the same problem. I bought a couple of those blue ice packs at the grocery store and they work fine. Just spray them with Lysol before you put them in your terrarium and you should be fine. You only need to keep them there for a day or so to induce pinning.

Turn your ac on. I hope its not 82-88 degrees in your house normally. Thats hot as hell. Mine are kept in a closet and I always have the ac on at 75 and the temp stays at 75 during the day and drops to 70 at night.

Welll, like I was saying earlier....if you have an incubator in the same area...move it somewhere else. My creates alot of external heat that gets trapped, cause its in a closet. I think you should try the icepack idea....buy like 3 of them....and use one and keep the others in the freezer. And keep rotatiing. Try it out.

Dude, what are you looking for, exactly? You could try the heat sink idea above, move the terrarium to an area covered by your AC (or the basement, if you have one), drop some ice packs in the terrarium, etc. Seriously, I'm not sure how much more help you could get.
No flaming intended, but it sounds like you want something quick and cheap that doesn't require any work. All of the ideas in this thread are good ones, but you might have to (gasp) build or buy something.

I'm willing to buy/build anything. I just sawed off the lid to a big cooler i had and installed a piece of plexi(sp) glass. I'm going to put in a rack at the botton and put my 10 gallon aquarium on it. I'm going to keep 5 ice packs in the botton, under the rack at all times. I'm going out to buy a 2nd temp monitor and test out the cooler until it keeps temps right. I have like 1 week until i birth so my then i will have found a way to keep it cool.
Thanks for the ideas people Fd

If your willing to buy anything then go buy one of those window unit ac's. Or they have other type of portable ac units you can buy. That will for sure bring the temp down in your room. They are like 100 bucks though

When I was talking to my dad yesterday at work he said that he bought this new kind of ice chest for when he goes fishing. He said that its super insulated and can keep a bag of ice in it without melting for like 4 or 5 days. I think he said it was like 40 bucks which isint that bad. I also have seen a ice chest that my sisters boyfriend had that he kept his beer in. It had this thing where you plug the ice chest, or some kind of pump or something, into the wall and it kept the ice chest pretty cold. Maby these things could work pretty good.
