Save a cake TEK! H2O2 injected....
    #715114 - 07/01/02 05:45 AM (22 years, 10 months ago)

Hey there,

I have a MAZ cake that is very much in progress but I noticed a small gray spot starting to form on the mycelium in the bottom of the jar. The jar is packed a little tight and my syringe TEK was not exactly the very best but I want this mystical item so I used a little H2O2 injected into the jar. The H2O2 went around the side to the bottom and seemed to go right to work on that spot. I could see just a little bubbling. The grayness has started to clear up. I wondered if anyone has used this much previously and were you successful??? Any negative side effects on the mycelium or substrate to report??

Best regards,

KingBolete

Hey there,

The H2O2 was just partially effective . I may try a very diluted solution (200:1) of bleach to see if it that will be more effective at removing/stopping contamination without damage to the mycelium. I don't want to lose this cake so I am working on it and learning at the same time.

Best regards,

Hey there,

I did an in the jar Bleach Tek injection and it seems to be working okay. The small area of discoloration is gone and the colonization seems to be proceeding okay. I have the tape off the holes to let out the excess moisture from where I hit it with H2O2 and then very diluted water/bleach solution. Looks happy enough now...

Best regards,

KingBolete
