when im thinking deeply, im relaxed
when im over-analyzing, im not
so yes, ime, they are different
i cannot enter a state of deep thought when over-analyzing
how can you access depth when your attached to the periphery of your mind?
how can you see the whole when your not looking from the center?

Yup, that explanation marked the spot. In most (if not all) cases over-analyzing equals paranoia. That's why it had over as a prefix.

Usually I find my mind works by cycling through the two of them, kind of. Over analyzing is my mind idling it's engine, and deep thought is getting in gear. I don't know quite how to explain it. I can only think deeply for so long until I have to, I suppose, over analyze for a while to straighten out what I've thought. I suppose what I'm talking about is more akin to the difference between creating components to an idea and assembling them... I dunno... it seems like, in my normal creative thought process, I hit these idling points where I'm just going over the same point again and again until I either crack it into something new or abandon it.

I think you just did that : Over-analyze
