Have you guys looked at musicians as philosphers? If so, name a few. Then name those in the past 100 years.

Jim Morrison comes to mind. As does Curtis Mayfield. The list can indeed go on and on

Not quite I just felt like quoting Plato.
BUT we can discuss that quote if youd like to. That would be a great thread.

Well, it would have been cooler if he had stated that music is the highest philosophy. Why didn't he say that instead?

Lol thats exactly what I was thinking. Maybe it was because he himself was a philosopher? Heres another quote I like:
"Let us describe the education of our men. What then is the education to be? Perhaps we could hardly find a better than that which the experience of the past has already discovered, which consists, I believe, in gymnastic, for the body, and music for the mind." -Plato

"Mozart moves us with that peculiarly touching and endearing grace of early blossoming and fading; Bach stands for the edifying and comforting submission to God's paternal plan of which suffering and dying form a part. But we do not really read these qualities from their biographies and from such facts about their private lives as have come down to us; we read them solely from their works, from their music." -Herman Hesse, The Glass Bead Game

There is ALOT of music in technical death metal that is very philosophical and spiritual, which might surprise you. I hope this what you mean...
Disavowed - The Veils of Misconception Misconceptions in perception Created by the conscious mind Are based upon reason Which abstracts reality Reality is deformed Perceptions incomplete Dogmatic point of view The truth has been concealed
I feel it within Burning from inside
The veils of misconception
Misconceptions of the conscious mind The veils of misconception
The unconscious mind Reveals a whole different approach To gathering information Concerning our reality More dimensions are opened For revealing the truth Layers of truth are unveiled From the veils of misconception
I feel it within Burning from inside
It is easy to forget the truth behind the veils!
Psycroptic - Our Evolutionary Architecture A virus unnoticed. Now ingrained in us all For we are not what we appear to be... This is the fundamental nature of the syndrome. A plague presenting a new means of being: of which has never been witnessed. Nothing. To alleviate the effect... Oblivious, relieved of our true awareness; replaced with a new script for our futures: Puppets for a twisted play. With humanity as the lead. Spread with such an aggressive velocity: Concealed within the natural magnetic properties of the earth. A unique catalyst: an efficient method to spread infection. We were all contaminated within an instant... The entire populous: with no immunity... Our bodies rendered void: our minds unaware. In harmony we fell where we stood... Motionless, switched into a dreamlike state. Our tangible existence replaced... Oblivious: we carry on with our now illusionary life. However, we are the ignorant architects: damned for us, we are smarter than we think.
This virus spawned because of a need. It was the logical evolutionary step for humanity. It is what we (internally) desired... Evolution. Simply making efficient the lives we catty out The trivial distraction that is life, prevented us from noticing, the gradual change... Collectively, we longed for an amendment (to life). Easier... Simple... Apathetic. Uncultivated areas of our brain, the silent nursery. Natural magnetic waves that circle out world, creating a linked community: Linking us all without awareness, nurturing the 'virus': the evolutionary solution. Continually developing. Continually refining, methodically approaching the required developed state. What happens now as out bodies lie still? A serene silence eclipsing the globe... Our next stage of evolution is complete... The human form more efficient than previously thought possible. But, how long can the hosts of our new way of life sustain us? Our mortal bodies... Without nutritional replenishment surely we perish? Is this an evolutionary flaw, or just a natural progression?

I play the accordion.
Not that I'm a philosopher or anything... maybe a junior philosopher.
Note: We don't have an accordion smiley.

He wrote a lot of poetry outside of music with The Doors. They released an album after Morrison's death, "An American Prayer" that has a lot of his views on society, the afterlife, etc. That goes the same for any of his poetry books.
