AN AMAZING GEORGIA FIELD... that I can't get into :(

Yesterday my husband and I drove down to visit my parents in McDonough, Georgia. We drove past this field FILLED TO THE BRIM with mushies growing from grainfed horses. We stopped and really examined the field (it was daylight) I would say within our view was a good 100-150 cubes. Alas they were not within our reach. SO I being the very honest person that I am decided to call the number of the people who owned the field (they board these horses, so the number was on a sign on the fence) "Hi, My name is Jennifer and I am currently a student studying agricultural horticulture at UGA, and I was taking soil and botanical samples from a near by field when I passed your pature. I still need more samples from a seprate location, I was wondering if you might mind if my partner and I came in and took some samples of your pasture soils, grasses and weeds?" THIS APPROACH USUALLY WORKS... I am not one who just sneaks in in the middle of the night because I'm scared of going to jail. I try to make up a plausible story and roll with it. Not this time. "Only the people who own the horses are allowed in the field." "Okay, I understand. We promise that we would not disturb your livestock, we are only interested in earth samples." "No." "okay."
I hung up. I think I will cry. I want in that field so badly! My husband and I even found a space where the fence is lifted and it would be easy to just crawl under it. Alas, my law abiding part of me says I can't.
*sighs*
damn. Had to share. I'm going to take a picture of it when we go back today. Its rained all night too, so it should be even more packed.

I've had this problem..but haven't had the balls to contact the land/pasture owner
So me and my brother jus parked the car as if we were picking blackberries on the road side ... I wandered off slipped under a fence and grabbed a handful of sum really big cubes... My brother in the meantime was actually picking berries when a truck pulled up beside and ask him what is he doing he replied picking berries for my grandmother shes gonna make a cobbler the guy said oh wow I didn't know it was blackberry season he then drove off.. After seeing that truck take of my heart was pounding.. I come out the woods like ugh we need to go.... for I had saw like a family walking thru the pasture a man, an older woman and a younger looking guy jus walking thru a pasture hmm maybe they were picking too... lol never been back to that location ..
The adrenaline rush is always fun... I jus can't be doing the trespassing thing anymore I have too much crap against me...and still haven't paid for speeding tickets.. So being caught picking mushrooms jus wouldn't be a good idea ...
Good luck with future finds..

I feel your pain. There are several Fields in my area that look ideal but they are out in the open. Cops around here would have nothing better to do but come investigate some trespasser in a field. Risk vs. Reward I guess.

*re-read your post, sorry i just woke up*
Wait 100 - 150 cubes IN SIGHT? That's a risk I'm willing to take. Get under the fence, haul ass to the biggest patches. Fill up a bag and haul ass out. If you're in and out in matter of minutes. I don't see you getting caught. It will take them a few minutes to decide what you are doing... then a few minutes to call the LAW if they so choose to do. Then a few more minutes for someone to arrive. Just be quick! Like a bunny!!

Okay, Here is the plan... We're going back down for dinner with mom and dad tonight. My husband is all about us running under the fence for 5 minutes then running out. Which is what we are going to do. THEN, I have made arrangements to pass the information on to ANOTHER hunter here on the shroomery, with a small percentage of his take as a finders fee. Its not like there isn't PLENTY for us both. Aside from that, it will be really nice to meet and greet and shake hands with another shroomery member. Its hard as hell to make friends round these parts on here... I've yet to figure out why. I'm a very nice girl. I don't live in McDonough anymore, but its not like its far from the ATL, so my husband and I both agree we need some reasonable friends who have compatible hobbies. Such as mycology. SO HERE WE GO. I'm scared already. Tips for this trip are welcomed. SHARE YOUR EXPERIENCE WITH ME PLEASE! I've always had permission. I've never been trespassing.

About 95% of the time, I've obtained permission as well. I think it's one less thing to worry about while out picking. The times when I trespassed on a field were usually when the owner wasn't home or when it was so far out in a field I couldn't reasonably find the land owner's property.
Good luck, just be fast and you should be ok, especially if there isn't too much traffic. As has been stated before, unless a cop rolls by, the chances of getting busted are pretty slim because of the time it would take one to arrive.

You and your husband should definitely be alright. Just remember to be quiet, stealthy, quick, and respectful the land and animals. One person could be the "driver", while the other is in the field. Or you could both decide on a meeting spot somewhat distant from the field, in case the fuzz came and you both ran in opposite directions.. confusing the pig.
I can certainly vouch for how tough it is to find like minded individuals in these parts. But it will get easier! I've met a few beautiful people through the psychedelic experience.. but also some slime..

yeah, at least you have fields near by that grow cubes... the only things i've got are bluefoot (i can never find it) 2 species of gyms, and pan subbs. and none of those are as easy to find as strolling through a field. count your blessings!

So did you get your cubies or what??? Around here we just do whatever till someone makes and issue and then move on. Of course out here picking cyans infront of the police station seems to be common practice.

Not dead. Tired. Empty handed. Not dead or caught.
The field was amazingly simple to infiltrate. After carefully watching for my husband from all angles of the road I quickly discovered that NO ONE COULD SEE ANYTHING IN THAT FIELD. We were TOTALLY safe. I was able to see that both houses surrounding it were completely dark so they weren't watching. after 20 minutes.... my husband came in with a small bag of mushrooms, but I came back with nothing (he grabbed everything he could find with no id) The entire field had been hit prior to us. There were a bunch of death caps left, but you could see where most of the Cubes had been torn. What was left of the stems was in the the field blue green and white... but when reviewing what my husband picked NOT A ONE was a cube. He said that it was tough to find anything compared to the fieldful we'd seen on Saturday. I agreed. We got beat to the punch.
I'm going to work on a couple other locations today and see if they have anything. And I believe I will turn that location over to my shroomery friend who was waiting for this one. We're exauhsted. We even tried to hit a couple other pastures which we hadn't scouted in daylight. Lots of poo. No mushrooms at all. Weird. our return at 3AM was fruitless. I am very upset to say.

Aww .. that jus sucks Heres an idea you might not be to keen on ..but this field u talk about ..you can always take a trash bag or whatnot with you and gather some poo that has been colonizing ... take home and make an outdoor bed right in your backyard ...or wherever .. I currently have some poo thats been colonzing for like 4 weeks now and no signs of pins..but im thinking once it does flush it fruits .. my field should be ready..
Good luck.. sux about you guys being beat

Thats pretty smart! Yeah, I found a couple pies that still had remnents and had some pins, but nothing worth taking, you know... but I hadn't considered just sticking that in my own back yard....

Keep on looking for another field! You will find some cubes. I hear that weilii are out in Northern Georgia too. I have 3 fields that produce. I just got back from one of my fields that I thought would never produce again. I came back with about 1 lb of cubes, and it had been 3 1/2 years since it had produced more than a few cubes. 1/2 of the field was under water, and got chased by a cow. Oh well, all in a days work.
