DMT is short for dimethyltryptamine. Tryptamines are in mushrooms as well. However, DMT is much more powerful than psilocybin/cin. The effects of PURE DMT when smoked last for about a half hour, but is incredibly rapid when reaching the peak. DMT flashes can be quite scary when it comes on *all of a sudden* after you inhale the first hit. In order for dmt to become active orally, an MAOI is necessary, otherwise no effects will be achieved.. This is where syrian rue comes in. Syrian Rue is an MAO inhibitor, that when mixed with dmt in a brew (ayhausca), becomes active orally, and the duration of the trip lasts around 4 hours.

Syrian Rue in itself can produce a strong trip due to the fact the within the seeds it contains the two psychedelic alkaloids Harmala and Harmaline. These alkaloids when extracted induce a 4-8 hour trip where cinematic sequences can take place on your own inner-eyelids (like tigers running around, or just about anything with length, kinda like a little movie). You go into a deep trance-type state where you won't be able to be bothered. Both the harmala alkaloids are currently unscheduled in the US, but are schedule I in Canada.
