New needle cleaning Tek

How one could inoculate without having to burn the needles red hot... What do you think? Is it any good? With this Tek you have a fresh, clean syringe for each of your jars. And you can boil your disposable syringes over and over again. The work-flow is much faster too. Good shroom

Why is that easier than flaming the needle, precisely?
Even if I did this, I'd flame the needle too. You have to draw in inoculant, which means the outside of your need is coming in contact with a solid surface at some point or another.
Pointless.

It would work well if you were making syringes but if you already had a spore syringe from a vendor you can't pressure cook that, so you have to use the same syringe. I'm sure you already knew that though.
It just seems like a lot of extra work, alcohol lamps are easy and cheap to build, and without all those syringes in the PC you have more room for jars. But if it works for you then awesome, keep doin it.

And lighters are everywhere. So are gas stoves. The soot doesn't make a damn bit of difference.

Yeah, uh...
You cook to sterilize the entire needle. Then flame right before any activity to not thoroughly sterilize but take care of any chance spores/bacterium that have landed on it.
This isn't a "tek". It's going halfassed.
Radel, I thought if you didn't say the word contaminant, you didn't get them! Why sterilize!

@ figgusfiddus
You asked: Why is that easier than flaming the needle, precisely?
Answer: I think, it is a great advantage in saving time - as longer as one exposes the jars to the surrounding air, it is more likely, that some unwanted visitors have a chance to move in. Since alcohol can not sterilize the needle - only disinfection is possible with alcohol - the syringes are actually cleaner when they have been in the PC together with the jars. And no, the needles do not get in contact with anything, except the spore-liquid and the substrate, but only once, for the next jar you are going to use another fresh, clean sterilized syringe.
With this tek the spore solution in the little cup or glass, does not get "dirty" either.
If one uses only one syringe for several jars, the chances are higher that you "infect" the spore-liquid with the burned needle and also with some tiny microscopic substrate-particles inside the needle - who usually stick there, when you pull the liquid into the syringe.
At the beginning of my shroom-grower life, I used the ancient burning-needle tek too, but now I'm very happy with this new tek. If you have time, why not try it for yourself?

So if you want to do 30 jars, you need 30 syringes...
I don't see how this is a tek, anyway. There's not much to it. Burning the needle doesn't take much time at all, if you have the proper setup.
But, to each their own. Enjoy.

wtf I feel so betrayed by Ravel's advice...
I was still assuming that if you didn't THINK about infecting them they wouldn't get infected!

If you have a liquid culture and you need a sterile syringe to draw it out, this 'tek' works fine - until the rubber inside the syringe cracks and shrinks from sterilizing too often.
Why is everyone up each other's ass here?

I bought this from my local Wally world. Cost me $17.00. It's refillable with butane. It has never failed me for what I'm doing right now, (burning needles). I cut a 3" x 3" piece of board and drilled a hole in it to keep it stable. Works awesome! (OK you crack heads, don't all of you go running to Wally World at the same time! LOL!).

well , I wouldn´t skip the process to flame the needle until red hot.Itis not good to skip such an easy thing in order to avoid any contams.
If you want to reuse your syringes you can pC them wrapped in foil, but I wouldn´t do it together with my jars because of the time .
I Pc them just for 20 min but not for 90 min when I do the Jars.

It saves a lot of our very valuable energy and a lot of money too if one cooks the empty syringes together with the jars. Don't we want to do something about the climate change? ..... seven at one blow and efficiency is the keyword. Why make things complicated? The cheap one-way syringes are tougher then one thinks. They take 90 Min with great joy.

ditto- cooking them with substrate jars is overkill pcing syringes for sterilization is far from new, but thanks for caring enough to post.

A clean sterilized needle can successfully be used 100% of the time to inoculate multiple jars one syringe per jar is simple wasteful and in the long run slows down the process considerably. The tried and true method we all use works flawlessly when done right. Understanding the concept here might help make ones life much more simpler in the future. Remember KISS is the second most valuable asset here following Patience.
