Newbie Casing Question
    #713466 -

My first two one cake casings did fine. I used small loaf tins and a 50% vermiculite and 50% potting mix blend for the casing layer. I have two new ones, made with straight potting mix (which is a soilless mix containing verm/peat moss/etc). The mycelium colonized them just fine, in fact the surface looks as good as any casing pic Ive seen. After mycelium starting showing even penetration in the valleys of the casing layer, hyphal knots began to form in about 8 days. Now, they're just sitting there. I have like two small pins, but they're just sitting there, and have remained tiny for like the past 4 days. The cap is white, too.
I think Im doing everything right. I kept humidity in the chamber at 96%, temp at 77% until I saw the pins, then lowered it to 88% (temp stayed the same). Its been about a week, and nothing has happened. I dont have overlay, the pins are in the middle of the surface and when I misted it, water soaked in the soil layer just fine. What am I doing wrong?

Thanks for the reply!

I guess Im just a little concerned...the first casings I did fruited pretty fast (both are EQ's). You know, these new casings, are actually using the substrate from the first casings, and I recased them. Do you think the substrate could possibly be out of nutrients? (this would be the third flush for the substrate)

Thanks...
