Rhizmorphic growth like gangbusters
    #713216 - 06/30/02 12:17 PM (22 years, 11 months ago)

For all you real Wizards out there. A few questions?

Why are some strains more rhizmorphic in all aspects from colonizing spawn & substrates than others? Or, is it just feeble spores.

A FOAF has had very good results from all spore strains that demonstrate strong rhizmorphic growth in all stages. And, feeble, poor or zero results from spore strains that do not demonstrate rhizmorphic growth.

For example, B+ from one vendor grew fluffly white myc that did not ever demonstrate any rhizmorphic growth, would colonize grain -- BS & a bulk substrate, then would not pin or fruit worth crap.

On the other hand another B+ strain from a differant vendor was very rhizmorphic from the get go, colonized grain like a crack head trying to find a bag, shot though the same substrate used before like it was a bull elk in rutting season, pinned like gang busters & grew consistant large fruits -- quick -- & for multiple flushs.

Whats up with a spore strain from a vendor that doesnt get rhizmorphic?

Thanks for the reply -- Enter.

To clarify my question a little better;

What do you think the cause is -- of -- spores from a vendor that do not demonstrate rhizmorphic growth in hardly any instance on -- agar isolate -- rye jars -- bird seed jars -- or -- on any bulk substrate (true compost -- quasi/compost or pasturized dung/straw)? Meaning, in some instances they will grow cottony myc (sometimes thick), but will not colonize a substrate effectivly to the point they will pin.

By "generation", do you mean spore to harvest, spore to harvest, so on & so forth. I assume you don't mean first "flush"?

Just a guess & you may have already answered the question. But, I would speculate the spores are from a 3rd -- 4th -- or older spore to crop generation?

How many generations before a strain degenerates?

Thanks for any responce. SixTango
